I missed this thread.. I was prolly not looking for it. There was a few more threats around Manchester a bit after the London stuff. I doubt my lil town will get attacked because it bears no significance. But I can't help but wonder how many more terrorists are waiting in hiding. 100% of the attacks on english ground by terrorists we have suffered since the war on terror started, are by extremist muslims, living inside the UK. Not people from the middle east. In fact I am waiting for the day when a white muslim commits such an act, a muslim without middle eastern heritage, and blows peoples black and white view of the world apart. Put yourself in the position of the terrorists who attacked London for example. Say the whole middle east got nuked. You would still be sitting nice and comfy in your flat in Leeds, making home made bombs. The only difference is that you would be a hell of a lot more angry, and so would several million other muslims who would begin to see what the extremists mean when they call us evil. Hell, if we nuked the middle east I'd consider taking up arms, and I'm one of the tree hugging hippy pacifists you so despise. All I can say is thank God most people in the real world dont feel like some of the people here. Im sorry if this offends anyone but it's my opinion..... That part of the world has been at war constantly for a long time now. For a people that that say their religion is a peaceful one...well....thats yet to be seen. I don't think the attacks will stop. exactly. They think that the way we live is wrong and the way we live has a name, freedom. They disagree with the fact that we can go out and buy sweets, bread, milk etc and they can't. Just because you think you know who we are attributing "us and them" to doesn't mean that you are correct in your assumption. Us = Western Societies and it ideas that people should be free have self autonomy, religious freedoms, the right to choose who they want to lead them. Them = Extremist Fundamentalist Muslims who believe anyone who does not agree with them is an infidel and must be converted or killed. Any muslims who are not like them is worse than an infidel is even worse and must also be killed and subjugated. Want all "muslim lands restored to them(including Spain) and sharia law instituted in all of these places. Them also includes the clerics who preach this extremism and governments who support and harbor them. Don't forget the people who are willing to strap bombs to themselves and blow up innocents, or enjoy beheadings and those who tell these terrorists to do it. I'm probably missing a few other them's here. Most of THEM are in the middle east. This is the area that needs to be changed. Killing them, cut their funding, destroy the gov't's that support them, convincing everyone else there that they are bad and not the ones to support; these are the ways that will reduce THEM. This is how things work. To think that by attacking the middle east it won't stop until every last individual there is dead is to not understand the world. Unless you think Germany, Italy and Japan are all lifeless craters now. Trashing the middle east doesn't solve anything. In fact it does the opposite. Looking through this thread i see some things that make me sick. Not just the atrocity itself. The attitudes of people. You think we should trash the middle east. What would that solve? That just puts us down to their level. Down to the level of Mussolini and Hitler. Oh and if any of you think im on there side, think again. I could have lost an entire part of my family. My daughter lives in England (although she is with me at the moment) she is flying back to London on Saturday. I worry but I know that the strong will of the people in the U.K. will not allow this atrocity to happen again. I remember 9-11 (my daughter was supposed to fly back to the U.K. then too)I know this will only fortify the British people in their resolve to bring about a better world where freedom and security can go hand in hand. Actually, Buzz, I never said we should all just go hug trees... the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq will overall end up well, I think, but that's not to say more countries should be invaded at this moment in time... it's a great way to get even more terrorists. Governments need to stop supporting terrorism, yes, but all-out warfare won't necessarily help the Western world achieve that goal. |
