Humans on the other hand are more predictable and I will literally just let him punch me and fight back. Dogs that woudl usaly go after me one such as my self usualy love the fear shown from someone ( there are mayn dogs that are pets that geneticly love fear ) So if a dog where to start biting me not defending y sefl would be no good obviosly, but if I were to kick it back, it woudl syche out and try to hurt me/ kill me faster, so I would be forced to finish or keep it down before it had a chance to get back up ( is this a little off topic ) Usuauly thoguh when a dog appraoch me I jsut calmy walk or stand still, it might circle me a bit, but usualy if I show no fear it will just nibble me a bit and then run off if i don't make any sudden movements. Meh. When a dog bites me, I just bite it back. A lot of them (and their owners) get really confused and the dog just runs away. Try it with the little yappy dog that annoys the crap out of you. Go into it's face and bark at it back. It will either: 1. Run away 2. It's master will pick it up, away from the pshyco. 3. Bit you in the face. It owns when it is in the water. If you try jumping on it's back it back, it can't reach your with it's mouth, but if you do that in the water it can just roll over. It can probally just roll over on teh land , but it is a little different. Also unless your one of the best karate men in the world I would not suggest taking on a hippo withotu a weapon, for it has more muscle, more weight, bigger feet, and bigger teath. threaten a rabbit, or a small dog for that money, and I assure you you'll have it  only last month some dude on the radio threatened to kill his puppy for 50 000 euro's. He got them the same day.
