Ok, I'm at my wit's end. I have never used mIRC or jIRC or IRC or kIRC whatever before, all these connection channels and ports are completely new to me.

Any help would be hot, I don't need a full explaination of how it works thanks, just what procedures I should follow so I can talk to you guys using the applet underneath the forum tab.

Thanks :D

So can you in perform, and it's less work... whatever floats your boat, I guess..

EDIT: Also, I really don't recommend using the channels folder (or in Bail's words, favourites)... just put /join #NameOfChannel on a separate line in perform, under the Q auth...

When you're adding or editing a favorite channel, you can choose what networks it should auto-join on. I automatically join #gentoo on any IRC network I happen to be on, but I only join the JA channels on Quakenet.

Just a couple more questions,

1. How often are the IRC stats updated?
2.How do you use all these commands for slapping people etc?

1) Every hour

2) I THINK (never use them myself) that it's /slap name

No, you can't change username after registering with Q, only password. Your username is whatever you used as nick when saying hello to Q.

EDIT: Also, I really don't recommend using the channels folder (or in Bail's words, favourites)... just put /join #NameOfChannel on a separate line in perform, under the Q auth... and make sure you're only doing the auth perform on Quakenet, unless you feel like showing Q's on other networks your password..

I actually have a tutorial written up, but it's in a .doc (albeit designed for html, just without tags for images), but I can't be bothered to upload pics and page again. Smells like work.

or you could go here and then click a server to your liking (in other words: close to you)

You download the program and allow to install it.

Then you use the 'Tools' command and click on Options.
There you see: 'Full Name' and 'Email Address' and etc etc etc
Should you not see it, click on 'Connect' to your left.

You fill it in.
Nickname: Your nickname of course
Alternative: An alternative nickname should your nick be in use already.

Then on your left side you click on Servers, and where it says 'IRC-server' you select 'Quakenet: Random Server.

After this you press OK and then you select the weird looking lightning button that looks like lightning.
It will connect and another screen will pop up.
You first click 'Add'.
Channel: #jedi-academy
password: leave empty (there is no password at the jedi-academy)
and if you want, you can click 'join on connect'. This will mean that each time you connect your client to Quakenet, it'll immediately join the channel #jedi-academy. Click if you wish. I do so :)
When you're done, you click OK

You could also have just typed: #jedi-academy in the above textbox, but you would have to retype it every time.
So I use favorites.

Anyway, if you want to join #jedi-academy now, you can double-click it in the favorites list.

Two useful commands too are the following:
/msg Q HELLO Emailaddress RepeatEmailaddress

This will send you a mail, after which you can:
/msg Q@Cserve.quakenet.org auth username password
of course you change 'username' and 'password' to what you received in the mail.

If you have done this correctly, it will allow you to be authed, so you could one day for instance receive op (banning, kicking-powers :))
Of course you could
1) type this in every time you connect
OR
you go to the following screen:
The Options Screen (Tools -> Options)
on your left you click Options below Connect
Then you click the button 'Perform'.
Everything you type in here will be executed every time you connect, so
you cna just paste your '/msg Q@CServe...' here, and you will be authed automatically :)

If you have any questiosn, feel free to post again :)

Oh and to disconnect you can just click the lightning button you used to connect again :)

If you want to use the Site's Java Applet to chat, than it's easy.

Just click Chat, click 'Yes' when the pop-up appears, fill in your name, and click connect :)

You don't want to use our Java applet. It's broken. You cannot saying anything or see what anyone else is saying. I'd recommend following Bail's little tutorial. :)

Hey, I'm Retired, how am I supposed to know that? :(
