I listened to a song (or a story with a beat in the background) and these are the words it says. Please don't start any sort of flame war...I'm just posting it because I thought it was a great piece of writing

All of mankind has been diagnosed with a condition, that the bible calls 'Sin'. It's not like cancer or leukemia, which can be traced through a scan. If anything, it's more like a psychological sickness and visible to the eye, but effects the way we act and even think.

You see, 'Sin', is where we do things wrong...when we do things contrary to God's 'perfect' planet. Things like lying, cheating, stealing, or thinking you're better than everyone else. And 'Sin', even if it starts out small, always leads to death. It's kinda like "What goes up, must come down" or "Every action has a reaction". Well, for 'Sin', that reaction is death. So this sickness we've all been diagnosed with, is really more like a fatal disease.

So what can we do about it? Is that it? Are we supposed to come to terms with our disease with no hope of any cure? Is there a doctor anywhere on the planet who can help us? Here's the answer:

2,000 years ago, a man named Jesus lived. This was a real, live human being. Skin and bones, guts and brains, everything. But there is something special about this one, and even though he was tempted in every way, he never sinned. The disease simply couldn't be found in him. In fact, he went around healing all sorts of people with sicknesses: The blind, the deaf, the demon possesed. He fed the poor, cared for the untouchables and even raised people from the dead. Everywhere he went, he told people about this massive party, called the 'Kingdom of God'. It's a community, a family, where everyone is loved and accepted and where everyone can learn to love and accept not just their friends, but even their enemies. And if Jesus' life and teachings weren't 'odd' enough, his death was even more strange. Even though he was the last person in the world to deserve it. Even though he was sentanced 'Not-Guilty' of any crime or wrong doing. Even though there was not a trace of this 'Sin' disease in him, he laid down his life at the hands of contaminated people, like you and me, and died on a cross. And when he died, he took it upon himself the responsibility of the punishment for all the wrong things the people around him were doing. He took upon himself the responsibility of the punishment for all the wrong things we, 2000 years later, are still doing. It was the ultimate cure for the ultimate disease. And now we can have the forgiveness of God.

But it doesn't end there. You see, three days after he died, Jesus came back to life and appeared to hundreds of people. He overcame death and proved once and for all that he was who he said he was all along...The Son of God.

The bible said in "John 3:16" 'God loved the world so much that he sent his one and only son so that whoever belives in him shouldn't die forever, but live forever.'

And that's basically what it means to become a Christian. Just to admit that you're lost in Sin and let Jesus come into your life. Ask him to sort your head out and he will. If you take this seriously, then you too can be a part of this amazing thing called the 'Kingdom of God', where you can find love and acceptance and have your life completely changed...forever.

Just bouncing ideas off each other, if this gets closed then people here get offended too much by other peoples opinions. Everyone has a valid one.

Song? Artist? Who did it?

BTW, at last check, discussion of this nature is alright so long as it is kept mature and levelheaded. Threads like this that have gotten locked down in the past got unruly and caused different types of problems by individuals who couldn't keep thier cool about it.

Theories about God, spirits, reincarnation etc come from the natural sense that there is more to the world than we can taste or touch.
Of course the problem with any theory like that is simple; it cannot be proved. But at the same time it cannot be disproved.

Provided we aren't forcing our personal beliefs on others, a little insight from another point of view here and there is welcome IMHO.

Humans are designed to procreate, so that there are more humans to procreate more! It's called circadian rhythm!

Also, "love" used to be logical until people overanalyzed it and screwed it up themselves. :P

Lies jace. If life had no meaning we'd of been gone a long time ago. I dont believe theres a higher being watching over us particularly but there must be a reason to life. Our emotions control it and can override logic, if humans were supposed to think logically all the time how the hell are you supposed to love someone?

What was agreed was that as long as religion was confined to specific threads then that was OK (or was it only the "Bible Study" thread?).

Well Ill put in my two cents:
First off Im a Jew. Im not here to teach people things or knock down the Christan religon, but there are so many resons why I belive that Judisim is the right way. And these arent spitual things or any of that its just real life and non- mistical things. I will not list them for you right here and now since I belive that the JA should be free of religion, but if you want to seek me out in privet just look up my profile and contact me on AIM or MSN.
