I've got a Friend with a Dell laptop running windows xp and they keep getting this error. I'll post what they told me.

"everytime i turn on my computer a little thing pops up and it says that i have an unhandled exception"

"whenever my computer starts up and then there is an error report sending to promulgate universal but i dont have anything named like that on my computer"

Any of you resident computer whizzes here know what this type of error could be?

It was most likely caused by buggy spyware. Tell your friend to download, install, and run a program called adaware at least once a month.

You can get it here:

Well they don't use kazaa but a similar file sharing program which might use the same system as kazaa like morpheus used to. They called their college's tech support and had the other programs that start up with the computer and the error is gone. Of course that sounds to me like the problem was just moved and hidden away. That's all I really know about it.

is it XP home, or XP pro ?
try deactivating all autostart progrZ (via msconfig) and see if its still there. check the event log for any entry regarding that error.
FW and viruswall are always a good choice.

I would like to help, but then you must write down the (?exaxt?) line of the error, then let me do the rest.

I think it's KaZaA that does it... not sure, but my dad has had exactly the same problem... Maybe a virus???
My cousin also experienced the exact same thing...
I don't know how to rid it... But it's something to do with some specific programs!
