I've had a lot of problem with my input devices lately. I think my mboard is messed up.

So if you see me running around the JA unable to speak, or put away my gun, or stop, i'm not being a jerk...I'm just stuck again.

Man, I need to find out what the problem is, I hope that it is not the mboard because i cannot afford a new one right now. Well, until then I endure.

Later,

D.C.

P.S. thx for trying to help last night Bubu, my bro, I was glad that you were able to communicate with me a bit by skillfully using yes/no questions.

Just a thought, it definitely sounds like a software issue and not a hardware issue due to it only does it with jk2 and only with duels. As Mistral said earlier, did you load the mods/files one by one and test it out? Also go get more mem its cheaper than paying to fix the thing first. I also would check for the latest stuff on the lucas arts site, you might find an incompatibility with your stuff:( What os are you running, because if it is W2k or xp you are definitely going to need more-if you need some I might have some laying around let me know. That is my 1 cent worth of help that I can think of.

90 % of the time it happens it is as I engage in duel or after I have lost a duel.

Damn...you know what...?

I built my own computer. So I'm real sure from what I am hearing that if I spent an hour at Damon's house, I could get this fixed. I'm pretty talented with stuff, and could use my big book of info to figure things out.

Ah well. Best of luck to ya. At least we know you're out there somehow.

well, remember to reformat every 6 months. Turn off you computer for a day/night. Let it sleep. Try again. If it still does that, bring it to a computer store (the one you got it from?) to see if they can fix it. It will be expensive, but better get a professional to do iet early, than to get people to mess it up early (sorry anybody here trying to help)

I'm not really a computer guru, more a sex guru.
So if you have any sexual problems just ask;).

However, here's what I would try,

If your keyboard and printer are connected through USB, check your motherboard manufacturers site for driver updates or something.

Also, if you backed up all your JK2 files/mods then just stuck them all back in after your reinstall try installing JK2 again putting the mods/files back in one at a time.

That's all I've got:D.

Need other suggustions...

I bought a new HD which I needed anyway. I redid my system with the minimum stuff installed, in fact, MS Office and my CD Burner software are not installed.

All booting problems solved, but still have the problem with my printer and JK2's keyboard freezing up at random.

Okay, computer gurus what could the problem be now???? Can I blame my Mother Board yet? Help, Help, Help, it happens only in Jk2 no other program I run (of the limited ones on my system). I sure hope they are working 24/7 on JK3, maybe that game will run better.

What is weird is this only started happening since 3-4 weeks ago, before then never. I scraped my config files thinking that was the problem. What could it be?

Confused,

D.C. not

I was a huge gamer, back in the days, too.

I had to format every 2 weeks, simply because my windows (95/98 then) wouldnt boot no more.

years later I figured out what the reason was: its tuning and tweaking a single fps out of ur drivers.

Take ur windows as it is, use the drivers as they come, u might not have the best performance, but you wont have to reinstall that often.

I even had a batch file that would backup my sensitive data and initiate a windows setup with given parameters ;)

it took me less than an hour to have my windows as it was - with all progZ and tweaks ;)

Sorry bro,

Reformatting might be the answer. My bud in RL™ is a huge gamer. He reformats his PC so often I told him he might as well set his third mouse button to format/c.

My advice: Get a Macintosh:D

Damon next time you feel this is going to happen i'm gonna need a warning from you at least 10 minutes in advance. this is so people have time to get into their radiation suits and so that we can evacuate everyone in a 10-mile radius. you have to understand, we're only trying to minimize the number of casualties. ;)

Usually a long system beep on bootup and not passing POST is caused by memory issues. Make sure your RAM is seated snugly into their slots. You may want to pop them out and put them back in to make sure, or swap slots to see if one is bad.

Your other issues sound like an OS issue. When was the last time you reinstalled Windows?

Damon, do you have these problems just with JK2 or with everything?

Maybe look at Device Manager to see if there's any conflicts there. I would make changing your MB the last thing to try and re-installing Windows the 2nd to last thing.

It's hard to say w/o having the machine in front of me.:(

Well, DJ this is the issue...

It all started a couple of months ago....

First my printer would be detected as new hardware whenever I rebooted the computer. I re-installed the drivers but without any success, my printer works, most of the time, but it still has this problem whenever there is a restart. My LPT port is suspect?

Oh, yeah, and my sound card did not work for the longest time. But it works now.

My jk2 was working fine

Last week I went to Haiti. When I returned, this is what was happening to me...

I use to use a gamepad for movement when playing jk2 and my mouse both attached to my two usb ports. After, what I preceived as lag, I would lose my mouse and gamepad. I would be stuck without movement, or if I was moving stuck moving in that direction.

This would happen until I exited jk2. When I would return to windows I would have no mouse control and later I found it insisted that my gamepad was not being detected. I thought it was just a usb problem.

So I threw my gamepad away and started this past weekend learning the game over again using the keyboard and a ps2 mouse.

That was working well, until yesterday. Then my keyboard cut out as the usb port had done previously. My ps2 mouse was functional.

What could the problem be? The only problem that can freeze my computer in windows seems to be printing usually once or twice a week. That is why i'm wondering if my motherboard is messed.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot....lately when I restarted a few times, I had a long beep instead of a short one, then the computer failed to load. Yeah, Fizz this could be OS related. Hmmm. Maybe time to redo system. Anyway...

Your thoughts, please.

D.C.

all this stuff is usually OS related - if ur mobo quits working ur screen will just turn blank and thats it.

trust me, Ive been working as computer technician for some years ;)
Its most unlikely ur mobo.

Usually motherboard problems cause more serious things to happen to your computer, aka halting.. doing really strange stuff. What exactly is happening and what makes you think its a mobo issue? Have you made any recent changes to your PC?
