I saw 'Crash' for national Media day. Very well made film, i enjoyed it a lot, some interesting issues covered in superb style. The direction and cinematography were brilliant throughout. An amusing aside though, i went with my film and media studies classes, in all there was about 100-150 of us at the cinema, and i heard after i got back to college that some of the students had left so much mess the cinema had banned the college from doing it again! Oh and i watched Children of Men, starring Clive Owen last saturday, its a must see film. Brilliantly directed by Alfonso Cuaron, and with some superb acting from the main cast and even the smaller roles, especially Owen. What impressed me was the way it was so visceral that it felt as harrowing as a well directed war film, and it was all set in a near future britain. Horrifying, chilling, immensly interesting, and exciting all at the same time, it even throws in some inspirational aspects to the story, and really makes you think in places. I really sympathised with the lead character, and i felt he was well portayed (a main character in a thriller who dosn't feel the need to use a gun!). Also there is a moment in the film later on where they are leaving a building (will say no more than that) that is incredibly powerful cinema. _______________ To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield | Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken | Rhaiko D'kana - SWTOR EU Guild Co-Founder | Is it what the teacher, teaches? I saw Stay, featuring Ewan McGregor, Naomi Watts & Ryan Gosling a little while ago. Pure cinematic, and surreal brilliance. Watch it. Next i saw Corpse Bride, a Tim Burton film i'm sure many of you have already seen, i had intended to see it earlier being a huge fan of most things Burton, but particularly Nightmare Before Christmas. The film was brilliant, it really blows you away when you stop and consider that its a stop motion musical, the voice acting is superb throughout, and the characters are well presented, not sure its quite as good as Nightmare.. but that could also just be me being biased _______________ To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield | Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken | Rhaiko D'kana - SWTOR EU Guild Co-Founder | Is it what the teacher, teaches? On Sunday Koyi and I watched The Illusionist and Jet Li's Fearless. It was a while since we had time to see a movie together so we did 2 in one day. Might as well since they are free. Both were great movies! _______________ RIP MOM 06/29/58-07/31/08 Married to Koyi Donita 4/30/11 |

I recently watched the movie "Reign of Fire", and it has the single worst ending line of all the movies I've seen in my years. Along with that, it's a bleak and boring film, with only the beginning being interesting. However, afterwards it just tumbles into oblivion. I've been wanting to see Children of Men for a long time now, since about three months ago when I first saw the trailer, the film looks fantastic. I mean, when a trailer can make you feel that inspired and hopeful, there's something of a movie that everyone enjoy. Ugh, I'm not happy that they're releasing it so long after the initial UK release of the movie, comes out here in the states December 20th. ...Children of Men. It's an incredibly bleak and depressing tale of Clive Owen getting a pregnant woman off British borders, in a world where humanity is infertile. The last pregnant woman. This film knocks you down and never, ever lets you get back up, not even at the end. The body count is incredibly high as well. Humbling. _______________ Proud owner of El Vee For's 200th Comment, and Wicek's 2600th comment DaMi3N's 400th, Trad Redav's 666th. |

The Weatherman was a good movie, one of the better of Nicolas Cage's career. Gore Verbinski, the guy who directed Pirates of the Carribean, did a fine job on this movie portraying American values and purpose in every-day people, in this case, a weatherman. It was also humorous in its own subtle way. |
