Something similar happened in PlanetSide a few months back. There was an in-game funeral being held for him inside of a capitol dome [basically, enemy vehicles cannot get inside]. Enemies were let in, I don't think a single enemy fired a shot. Keyword: "Enemy". An outfit that was part of the same empire as the player who died came flying through the dome and carpet bombed the funeral. |

The situation itself is diffrent yes. I pointed that out. I asked to imagine a scenario where something like this would be possible to happen. WoW is open servers. And it couldn't be stopped now of course. And I am not even telling people that finding it funny is wrong. Thats your view of it. I am just pointing out the other side of the ballpark. I'd just like to point out that the context was completely different. The JA servers have their own set of rules, and anybody who tried anything like that would have been banned for life, an rightly so. The WoW funeral was on a PVP server and in an area where it could be attacked. It had no guarantee of protection at all. Yes, the guys who attacked it were jerks, but the funeral could just as easily have fallen afoul of a raiding party that didn't even know there was a funeral going on. Come to think of it, the forum thread when this was in the planning stage openly speculated that people would come to make trouble. If they knew this to be likely--and they obviously did--then why oh why wasn't it planned to avoid such a thing? Somebody mentioned Leroy Jenkins...Is anybody getting suspicious that this was staged just like that one was just to make a notorious video? _______________ My signature is only one line. ok, kinda funny how thye totally owned those poor mourners. but also very very harsh. thats not real pvp, that is slaughtering people who are trying to pay their respects to a fellow gammer. I just told my wife this story. She thought it was awful but also pointed out something I hadn't thought of. Throughout history, when a national leader or a leader of a warring faction dies and other leaders attend his funeral, there has been a lot of security on hand, and everybody has looked suspiciously at the faction whose leader is not planning to attend. So there's kind of a real-world precedent. Weddings historically have been somewhat dangerous too. Know why the groom stands to the right and the bride to the left? It's because the groom typically wore his sword on the left and drew it with his right hand, so he stood in the right to have a clear space to draw his sword quickly if the wedding were attacked. _______________ My signature is only one line.
