Once he had succumbed to the dark side, why did Anakin/Vader's eyes glow evil only during certain times?

Theatrics or is there a reason?

Have to agree with Rogue there.
Anakin proves himself very skillful to manipulate objects, hovering the orb when talking to Padmê.
Throwing beams or w/e at the Geonosian guards as they make their way through the Droidfactory.
So in essence, if one is strong enough to manipulate objects, making them levitate, throwing them etc, thers little difference between taking hold of some ones neck and grabbing a dead branch for example.
The only difference is as have been stated before, a Jedi wouldnt use the Force for such things, a DarkJedi(Sith) would.

It would take no training to force choke someone. All force choking is is the act of manipulating (gripping) a persons trachea. In essence it is the same as using the force to break a piece of metal or pick something up.

Which would explain how he learned how to force choke people (Padme) so quickly with no training :empire:

The "sith eyes" are a sign of fully tapping into the Dark Side of the Force. Kind of how, if you read the first installment of the New Jedi Order series, Jacen, Jaina, and Anakin Solo are able to tap into the lightside of the Force for a period of time and match the Yuuzhan Vong (very precise movements, more or less flawless in a sense.) It is later that they find out that this act is actually the rediscovered the Force power known as Battle Meditation, if you've played any of the KotOR games.

So to sum that all up, it just means he was fully tapping into the Dark Side.

Perhaps, but the Emperor didn't have these until he revealed himself to the Jedi

I agree with Raziel. If you see Maul and the emperor, they have those ; sith eyes' all the time, I thought I read somewhere that they are basking in the dark side, or somthing like that..

Also with the fact that he had killed a whole lot of people in cold blood, I think it was the manifestation of the dark side in his eyes.....

He means Anakin's actuall eyeballs in Ep3, not Vader's visor in Ep4.

I think the eyes thing was simply to show that he was a meanie - the reason it wasn't like that all the time could be for a number of reasons - but personally, I htink it's probably to do with the fact that it was the first time Hayden had worn contact lenses as a part of his make up and unless you're used to them, you can't wear them for too long without your eyes starting to hurt... and he had some big fight scenes coming up. :P

According to this book I bought a while ago, Darth Vader's eyes glow red when he's in 'advanced vision' mode or something called very similar. I'll look it up for you to see what it actually does :)

EDIT: Lol yeah, seems like I didnt get you there Ian :) I do now though :D
