X-men 3: The Last Stand ****Movie Discussion with Spoilers**** | |
R2D2 - Staff |
To me, it is just easier to make a seperate topic for the movie itself. Do you guys think there will be another X-Men? At first, when I saw Xavier fizzle and Magneto lose his powers, I thought this must be the last movie. The title does indeed say "The Last Stand." However, at the end before the credits... I'm sure most of you astute observers noticed that Magneto could possibly be getting his powers back (slight tremble of a metal piece I believe). I wonder if "the cure" wears off for all mutants, or only those powerful enough, like class 4 (Magneto's class I think) or maybe 3. Magneto took around 4 needles via Beast Of course, with Magneto getting his powers back, he will most likely return to his old ways. Onto the scene after the credits. My sister almost made me leave, thought we would look too dorky :p That scene was a rather nice touch. Xavier's death was quite unique, but he seemed rather calm during the whole process. Just like Magneto who somehow managed to reintegrate himself into society using his resources (reference to the book) and avoid being caught, Xavier had a backup plan too it seems. With this new body, I assume he will actually be able to walk. To me, this hints at another movie, but if you think about it, these last two scenes represent the notion that where evil exists there will always be good to oppose it. Yin and Yang type thing. Xavier and Magneto are a pair. In most of Xmen I know, they just are always there. Friends with differing views concerning mutants and relations with humans. Onto other smaller notes... Beast rocked - wonderful acting heh, and pretty cool cartoon series like fighting moves. Cyclops had a very short appearance. It makes sense that he's all torn up about Jean and decided to go find her on his own. Just seemed way too abrupt. Angel had quite a minor role. Coming into the movie, I thought Angel would be a little more important. As solitude stated before, could be that the next movie if it is made, may delve more into Angel's story. Storm - Halley Barey is quite hot. As Storm, I saw her as the only X-men to take over after Xavier. To me, Storm had a Palpatine moment when frying Callisto on the fence lol. Zap Zap Zap etc. Phoenix - was rather awesome. Whenever Jean was in Phoenix mode, she looked rather sick BTW, when Wolverine killed Phoenix, it looked like Jean showed a sign of relief before dying. Wolverine - well acted and portrayed in the movie, what I totally expected. Juggernaut - Didn't really mention he was Xavier's stepbro. I know the movie varied from the comics/tv series a good bit, but I feel little things like these are nice to see. That's all I have to say atm. _______________ "Do or do not, there is no try" Jedi Master Yoda Dual Saberist |

Quote: Side note for Dane: If Scott and/or Jean did indeed die, would it be possible for Cable to exist? Isn't he like Cyclops and Jean's son, or something along those lines? Nathan Summers (Cable) was the son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Madeline Pryor (Jean Grey Clone) who at the time believed herself to be the real Jean Grey although the real Jean Grey was dead. So he could only be born if he was somehow visited by this clone before his death in the movies. The movies are a murder of earth 616 canon fyi. _______________ I fite for teh usars!1 |

dudes, in all honesty, it was a good movie. the movie was mimicking the comic book more and more. the fact they were establishing leaders of he exavier institute and certain mutants made the plot a little better. the thing that i was dissapointed with plot wise was the fact that people actually died. for those of you who read the x-men comic, you know that it works like a soap opera, no onc actually dies, they're just put into a coma or something (take professoe x at the end of the movie). so that begs the question, "who's dead?" i was really pleased to see old favorites on screen. like: colosuss (even though he had like 3 lines) madrox the multiple man juggernaught ("...i'm the juggernaught, bitch!" ice man (in his ice form) storm (actually flying and shooting lightning) wolverine (cause he goes crazy and kills people (like he's s'pose to)) the head of a sentinel (would've like to have seen the whole thing) i think that it begs to have a sequel and that i will watch said sequel when and if it comes out. _______________ Shout out to DJ Sith cause he's my big bro. Quote: Just came back from seeing it, great special effects and the action scenes were cool. Story plain sucked though, pretty much everyone got either killed or cured, way too many characters that play major parts in the comics are seen only briefly and about who we get almost no info (Juggernaut and Angel for example). Watched pretty much all cartoon series of X-Men, and read a lot of the comics, and I can't remember so many people dying..... Also disliked that we didn't get to see what happened to the Juggernaut, Pyro and others. Never apply fandom when you are going from comics to movies. When we were sitting, in the theater waiting for the credits to end, there were some people behind us. And one of them was just going on and on about how "Iceman still needs to get his Omega powers" and and the need for the aliens of the comics and crap to still be in the movies. Bunch of other stuff like that. And Juggernaut isn't a mutant in the comics. It was the gem of cytorrak that gave him his powers. In the movie he was a mutant, as shown by Leech's ability to stop him. Complete change in backstory _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. Ruby found in a Cyttorak ruin or something along those lines is the source of his power. Pretty sure Magneto is Level 4. About what happened to the other mutants... I think it is similar to what happened with Cyclops. You assume Phoenix toasted them, but you never know. Quote: I think its because a) Phoenix was a split personality to Jean Grey, Jean Grey being the good half while Phoenix occupying the bad. As Phoenix is a manifestation of her personality, it wouldn't have got rid of Phoenix, just suppressed her powers. And also, Magneto is a class 3 or 4 mutant...3 i think, and 4 doses were not enough to 'cure' him, so I doubt they'd have any effect on her, being a class 5 and all. But, Jean Grey did want Wolverine to kill her in the first place, so, I guess it was what she felt would stop Phoenix. Like killing the host erases the home for a parasite. Didn't Calisto say everyone in the room was a Class 3 mutant or lower, except Pyro and Magneto? That makes him a Class 4, since he wasn't as strong as the Phoenix who was Class 5. On a side note, wtf is up with the Juggernaut in the movie? His powers got cancelled when he came close to Leech, which is incorrect, since the Juggernaut's powers aren't caused by mutation. |
