Here's my problem:

Using a tute I found on jediknightii.net I've fussed about with the head and fin jpgs in photoshop and ther're all saved under new names in models/players/rodian in the base folder. I've done a new .skin file for it too.

So, according to the tute I should be able to see my skin now. So I start up jk2, go mp, start a server but I can't find the model. Can't find the icon i made either. Oh, sirs and ladies what is your suggestions?

LOLOL alot of people made this mistake, because i didn't read any post twice i may repeat or may be answering the wrong qestion...

is it right that you have in base, /models/players/yourskinname ? with all the right stuff?

and not a pk3?
ah, the good part

because when you start a server it looks in base for the things the server has, you simply need to make a non-pure server :)

what i did, was i made a .cfg and put it into base...

test.cfg :

sv_pure 0

devmap ctf_bespin

(and then a list of binds for different views)

so, just make it non-pure if you want to see your skin, othewise you'll need to pk3 it every single time you update!

LOL. Crap man, I remember having to do that in JK. I had one too many levels loaded up and I crashed the game every time I tried to scroll past a certain point. ;)

Before jumping through a hell of a lot of hoops, try first the obvious:

Is it not showing on the list because you have so many other skins in the game? Try moving all your downloaded skins to another location for the test so that you don't have your skin pushed off the viewable list.

First try pk3'ing it and loading it into your base folder, then try making sure all the paths line up correctly in the .skin file. Thirdly, make sure that all the textures and models are in the correct subfolder when you package it up and if you have any custom sounds or shaders that they are also in the appropiate subfolders.

True, but I'm not going to any servers yet, I just wanted to go into mp, without logging on to the net, so I can have a look at my skin. According to the tute I should be able to see it.

did you make it a .pk3? like when you download something like Mandalorian.pk3 it has the pk3 at the end.
