Problem with movement | |

So I started playing JK:JA again today for the first time in who knows how long. I have a kind of major problem. I use the basic wasd layout, and space bar as jump. when I push (W+A) and jump, it won't work, (S+A) and jump works fine, (W+D)+jump works fine, and (S+D)+jump doesn't work. So for some reason jumping doesn't work while travleing forward and to the left or backward to the right. Any thoughts? _______________ Dicemaster |

I took a good look around the registry to see if I could spot a windows setting limiting how many inputs at a time you can put on a keyboard, but I didn't see anything. From what I read, it's a limitation in the physical circuitry of the keyboard. |

Aye, I get this problem when I try to crouch+right attack. I always thought it was just my PC, never thought it was a keyboard thing. However from what these blokes below me said, now I think they're right. _______________ .: Proud Padawan of Dane |

Maybe it wouldn't, but I changed the keys I used (more or less from the very beginning over a year ago), and have had no problems ever since. Instead of w-a-s-d I used and still use r-d-f-g. You can still reach the space bar, and pretty much all the keys you need quickly. Maybe you can try that? _______________ Geriatric single User, with a touch of Staff now and again. It's a Windows NT (aka 2000/XP) problem - if you play the game on for example Windows 98, you can press as many keys as you want at the same time. Don't know what causes it or if there's a workaround - Google might know more. I don't believe changing your keyboard would have any effect. _______________ Saving the world, one kilobyte at a time. |

Henkes told me about this a while ago, as i have the same problem. New keyboards are devided up into specific areas. If you press on (two or three?) too many buttons in the same 'area' at once, your keyboard won't be able to registrate due to that. There won't be any effect other than a beep. (For as far as I know) Old keyboards don't have that problem. That's why you were able to do any combination again when you started using a old(er) keyboard, Avalon. So yeah, the trick is either to rebind WASD to another set of keys. (You should ask Henkes which keys you should bind to, I'm unsure which are in which 'area' myself.) Another solution is to use an old keyboard. _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. |

hmm yeah, ive had the same with W+D/A+swing on my new keyboard. I went back to using an old one, and it works with all combinations. |

Sounds a bit like your keyboard might not be supporting this sort of combination. Unsure what you can do about it =| _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! Married to Kain. |
