Oh my god... oh my god! I got the german magazine GameStar today, and guess what's in there? A worldexclusive report about JEDI KNIGHT 3! It's propably coming this fall! I havent read the whole article yet but I can tell you one thing: It's fantastic. You can create an own character for single player, means you can change race, gender, cloths (!), face.... everything! Looks like they're going to make three styles again: one handed saber, double bladed saber and two sabers. And, you will fight against a rancor. It's just... amazing.

With today's technology there is a simple rule to follow in cases like this. "Believe nothing you see and only half of what you hear." If I'm going to believe it I want to see an official Lucasarts anouncement. Or more than one gaming magazine posting. No offense to the top german gaming magazine or germans either, but when I think of big anouncements and revolutions in gaming I don't think germany as being at the forefront. Don't you find it a little odd that it seems to be showing almost everything people wanted a newer game to have. If this ends up being fake don't be surprised if I laugh at everyone sucked in by it. And if its not fake then cool. But also remember that KOTOR and SWG are being released soon as well. I'm betting KOTOR has been in development for a whole lot longer than a year and its not finished yet. JK2 was released last year. If they're 60% done with JK3 they would have started to make it around this time last year. Guys: Believe me, it's no fake. I would bet my right hand on that. It's not just any magazine, it's GameStar! It's the biggest magazine in Germany, if they would fake anything they'd be dead. They have interviews with game designers, especially about the engine part. i will scan the article for you propably tomorrow, it IS true 
Well, about the time: They announced JK3 rather short. I really like this method, you dont have to wait years for a game to come out (e.g. Halo) but it comes in near future. They've done that the same way for JK2 so I think you dont have to doubt anything. In fact, JK2 was quite successfull. But no addon came out. Why? There was one for JK1. So, only reason: They've rushed to make JK3 
I've updated the link above. Should work now and show you the cover. I think they'll officially release it 1th april or something. Remeber, I'm subscriber, the magazine will be in store on 2th april. I'd love this to be true but I too find it doubtful. Here's something "official",
During Activision's third 2003 fiscal quarter conference call earlier today, execs at the company mentioned in passing that a sequel to last year's Quake III engine powered first person shooter Star Wars: Jedi Outcast was in the works to be released in their fiscal 2004 time frame (April 2003-March 2004). Since this was mentioned in an Activision conference call, it suggests that the sequel will once again be a collaboration between Activision and LucasArts. It's probably more likely to be based on the Quake 4 engine.  |

I'll have to agree with Buzz on this one. No other source has any info, although it does say World Exclusive. jediknightii.net talks about it on the news page. Geez, I really hope this isn't a hoax.
EDIT:Oh yeah! If this JKIII is real, what happens to the Academy? New Academy, divided Academy, just JKIII Academy, or will this remain JKII Academy? I'm all hyped up now, though it may not be(but hopefully is) true. EDIT: One more thing: if you're really wanting to translate German, just go to http://www.altavista.com/ and click on translate. Here's what makes me skeptical. Galaxies has been known about for over a year. KOTOR was anounced sometime last year, a complete year before its original planned release for PC. I don't remember when Jedi Knight 2 was announced but I think it was more than 6-8 before they were planning it. Also I think Jedi Knight 2 is doing pretty well so I don't think they'll be pumping out a sequel yet. I can see an Expansion for Outcast but they wouldn't call that JK3. I'll believe there will be a new game when its announced on Lucasarts, not when gaming magazines start trying to be like the televised media and be the first to "break" a story. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. still quake3. sounds crap when you hear it, but they said they would know the engine 100% and could do stuff they didn't knew in jk2. and it looks good, oh man, it does! even the magazine says that the difference to the unreal engine gets very small.
just some updates: kyle finally found it's peace with the force and helps luke teaching at the academy. you play one of his students, which makes you free to choose your race etc. Twileks and human are defenitly in, but one screen shows a rodian aswell. the magazine says it's expects 3 more races => 5. No differences in game, only to give a cool look. you can choose from several cloths for example different tops, pants, boots etc. saber colour and hilt design is free to choose aswell. oh, and you gain better forces like in jk2 with doing more misssions... BUt you can choose yoursself this time. you can even choose between dark and light which will have to different endings of the story with two different outros aswell! the story is non-linear (!) so you can change where you want to go. they want much more variety than before, tatooine hoth, jedi academy are just few locations. they want to focus more on saber combat and forces than before, but you will still have some wepapons like bowcaster n stuff. you see some great moves on the pics, two crossed sabers (like an x) to defend against blasters or two flying sabers. they spin around you, like this bug in JK2. about 70% of the game should be saber action, they want to get rid of annoying riddles and usual shooter parts with guns. some force from mulitplayer will be included in SP now, like for example seeing. and they want to included vehicles like those riding-animals on hooth or landspeeder on tatooine. they maybe even include vehicle-duels in MP. story and atmosphere seems to turn out great, the magazine is full of compliments. it's even the top story of the month! about 60% done, work with story, scripts and levels almost done. they focus on KI and mission design now... coming this fall they say. wh00t! _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |
