Well, bro, as you know there are fierce instant-kills with duals in JK:JA. :(

In JK2, though..... *clickclickclickPUSHclick*

It was turned off on our jk2 servers a long time ago. I believe the reason was this (though I could be wrong):

How to win a saber lock!
1) Have a mouse/keyboard with a scroll wheel
2) bind scroll up and scroll down to attack1
3) if you become engaged in a saber lock, scroll up and down until you win it, which you will unless your opponent uses the same tactic

edit: just read Buzz's post below, so I guess they were turned on for our servers in jk2. ;)

They were enabled on jk2, it was just very common for our members to allow the other person to get up after the saber lock and not take the shot at a defenseless target.

I suppose if you want movie-like duels, then MovieBattles 2 is really the mod to play.

That was my original thought Roan, since saberlocks brought about that extra cinematic quality to the fight. :) As a good JAT once told me "If it doesn't look cool, you're not doing it right."

Glitches aside It's a shame a simple lock and break can not be built into the game. It's one thing that you see in every movie duel when the two opponents go nose to nose.

I agree with that as well. The saberlocks were disabled in the early days of our JK3 servers when we found out they sometimes crashed our servers. I don't think we ever found out exactly why.

saberlock though in jk3 is ridiculous. Its horribly glitched due to their attempt to implement all these "cool" moves that go in with saber lock victors such as dual sabers around the back toss. Most saber locks with single saber result in a less accurate attack. And you actually stand a better chance of taking more damage by winning a saberlock than if you lost.

In jk2, saberlock was always enabled, and the results were predictable. You would be knocked down or if your health was low enough you would get the finishing hand slice. If jk3 were like that it would probably be turned back on, but I don't see it happening when winning is more of a risk than losing.

Saberlock was disabled because of a bug in the mod that would cause the game to crash, to my knowledge the bug was never fixed since I believe it was related more to the compilation of the code then the code itself, even though the servers are base they have not changed the settings to reflect such. I believe it is safe to enable saberlock while the servers are on base :)

I also think there was a problem with servers crashing due to saberlock. Not certain about this, but I've heard about this.

Saberlock is usually turned off because well, its quite bugged you see. Most of the saberlock animations dont work in the way theyre supposed to. From my experience, the finishing animation of that saberlock move usually just goes through the player without doing anysort of damage at all, leaving the opponent who "lost" the button-smashing encounter in an advantageous position. For example, the person who "lost" it could immediately afterwards just kata his opponent, thus winning the actual duel etc

*shrug*

I remember it being enabled in single player, and for a time it existed in JO MP, but not for long. Maybe something to do with 'cheap finishing moves' or something like that. /clueless
