Secrets of Star Wars '07 **New Force Unleashed Info**

This is a thread for discussing anything relating to Lucasfilm/arts upcoming plans for the Star Wars franchise, incorporating video games, books, both television series, and comics.

I am trying to compile all the known information and rumour about the project. Currently the plans for it seem to include:

-Live Action Television series. See Ian Jandos' thread about this here.

-The 3D Clone Wars Television series.

-'Star Wars: Force Unleashed'. This is the next gen game due out in Spring 2008. It sees you playing Darth Vader's secret apprentice (you will have a name eventually) who is hunting down Jedi and such. It promises revolutionary game physics, great graphics, and amazing force powers.

-It appears that the game will be 'unleashed' on: PS3, XBOX 360, PS2, DS, and PSP. Its still possible it will be released on the PC and even the Wii (although this is unlikely in my opinion), as the Official Site merely states 'Next Generation platforms'.

Quote:
Highlights at a Glance

* During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
* Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers -- Force push, grip, repulse and lightning -- throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
* Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible: The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls -- he'll Force push enemies through walls; The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside -- he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
* In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
* Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
* Decisions made by players throughout the game will determine the path of the story, including multiple endings that will rock Star Wars continuity as they know it.
* The Force Unleashed is LucasArts' first internally developed title for next-generation consoles, and it represents the first in-game collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic, two companies now finally under one roof at the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco's Presidio district.
* The Force Unleashed debuts Digital Molecular Matter from Pixelux and euphoria behavioral simulation from NaturalMotion Ltd.
* LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

-A novelised adaption of The Force Unleashed. Written by Sean Williams due in November.

-The Force Unleashed graphic novel!

-The Coruscant Nights series of books.

-The 'Dark Times' comic series.

[It seems likely that the Comic series, the Coruscant Nights books, and of course the adaption will all be connected in some way to The Force Unleashed as part of its huge promotional tour de force]

I believe thats it currently, but i expect there will be more. A SWG expansion probably :P

Here is a video showing a montage of most of the current artwork released by LFL on the various projects. Its pretty good.

-Pre-Vis video for The Force Unleashed, on google vid cos youtube was down when i typed this. :P

-Promo poster for Force Unleashed, Clone Wars 3D, and the Live Action series - seems Fett will play a role, and it will be released sometime in '09.
-A gallery depicting force unleashed characters as action figures - seems it will feature Vader, and some Jedi among others.

-Here are some pictures taken from the Gameinformer article about Force Unleashed.

-Starwars.com statement for The Force Unleashed.

-First look at TFU.

-Interview with project lead of TFU.

-The Force Unleashed Official Site You can find the latest trailers and promo's here.

-Wii anouncement

-Celebration blog

Discuss.

I wish the Clone Wars comics and the upcoming television series were broadcasted in Europe aswell.

In regards to TFU, that shit better make it to the PC aswell, cause that is frikken amazing. I've always liked the Force the most about Star Wars, and it is was I use 90% of the time in all Star Wars games, instead of guns/lightsaber. This game gives Force use a whole new meaning, and I HAVE to play it lol.

I agree that it should be released on the PC (a good port too), to do otherwise is insanity on their part. The angle of the force its taking is interesting although i won't say that there are not other themes they could explore that i'd enjoy as much if not more.

Oh and maybe i did not understand what you meant but i'm sure the various tv series will be shown in the UK/Europe? Sky etc. No reason why they wouldn't be. Of course America might well get them before us as usual. :(

None of the Clone Wars cartoons where broadcasted here, so I doubt these ones will.

yes they were - all on cartoon netowkr in the UK :)

We don't get Cartoon Network by default on our television, you have to pay extra for it.

Also, I can't recall seeing them mentioned in the TV guide.

*EDIT* Anyone know if they are viewable online somewhere? Preferably the entire series, and not just random episodes.

aye its on sky, which is a bummer. and im sure you can download them - just search bitcomet or w/e. =)

Yeah i can't speak for Holland man, but in the UK they got aired. I think its likely you will at least get the live action as it runs on a completely different deal to the animated series. Its for teens/adults (if they aim for the succesful sci fi target audience anyway) and live action stuff is usually broadcast much more widely than animation. If you have something like Skyone or Sci fi it would be on there i imagine.

Yeah I didn't take it to seriously, I assumed it was referring to the pilot episodes of the animated and live action series. On another note, I have heard that is two animated series and that's strait from GL's mouth. I'll try to find the audio.:D

Now that sounds interesting, if there is a second animated series i wonder what i could be... Hopefully not another round of droid adventures or whatever it was lol.

"I believe Freidman was referencing the live action TV show(s?) and not a feature film. It doesn't even make sense that Lucas would make a one hour film for TV... Isn't that basically a TV show pilot? If you read Freidman's stuff regularly you know he always has his head in the clouds--so to speak. He probably was drooling to break some Star Wars news and misinterpreted what Lucas said. I guess the only real news is that Lucas is still perusing doing two live action shows instead of the one."

I think this sounds likely. Could be he is planning one or two 1 hour specials to kick of the series, as with all the positive responses to it the live action series is undoubtable still going ahead.

Afterall a tv movie is usually like two hours long, a one hour long thing for tv is usually just a pilot or end of series episode.

Aha! I beat Jade to the thread with the news for a change! :P:D

Sadly its a mixed bag.

First here is a link to the latest screenshots of TFU. There is also an interview with project lead Hayden Blackman on IGN. Meanwhile on IGN Australia they have put up a first look of TFU, which includes the new screenshots - these shots feature ingame footage and the secret apprentice's ship, the Rogue Shadow.

Now the bad news. TFU has been officially delayed until spring 2008 by Lucasarts. While this is highly irritating, its also good because it means there is less chance of it becoming another unfinished, rushed KotOR2.

Impressions: The new screens look good, the force powers impressive, and the apprentice dosn't look silly. Overall i'm beginning to look forward to it, even if it dosn't look like stealing KotOR's styline crown just yet, it certainly looks better than the RotS game.
