Saber Modeling - Problem with UVW Unwrapping | |

Hello folks.
I thought I might give Virtue's saber hilt tutorial a go and experiment a bit with it, since i have no clue about 3d programs what so ever. It worked out pretty good until I came to the point of UVW Unwrapping. No matter what I do, I can't manage to get a wireframe similar to the tutorial. As the tutorial says, I play a bit more around with the Gizmo tool and try it again, with same result. Maybe I am just overlooking something, but here are some screens to get you hint what I am talking about This is my initial position with the UVW square manipulated to somehow look like as the tutorial states: Edited with Gizmo-Tool Okay, and when I UVW Unwrap the thing and then click on edit, I get either something that looks like a big bubble or just a thin line. But no matter how much I play around with that square I get no other result: The Bubble The Line I hope this screens now make clear what I actually tried to say above Anyone get an idea what I am doing wrong? Any help will be appreciated Thanks a lot in advance, -Laz _______________ Proud owner of Buster Senatu's 200th & 300th, Muro's 370th, Maher's 2100th, Henkes' 1639th, Johauna's 400th, 666th and 900th, Sho Koon's 2000th and Kain Sol's 600th comment Download Laziana's lightsaber here! I try to help you
First delete the UVW Mapping modifier and the Unwrap modifier too. Then get a new UVW Mapping. If necessary rotate the gizmo until the little line points upward. (Btw I don't recommend to use Select and Manipulate Tool. At teh Modifier Stock click on the little "+" sing near the UVW Mapping and use the Gizmo subobject level, not the entire UVW Mapping.) So, when the little line-thing is pointing upward check te X alignment radu button and click on teh Fit button under that. Then use the "Select and Scale" and "Select and rotate" tool playing around whit the Gizmo until you get the correct position. I hope this can help you. If not you can send me your model via e-mail and I will try to solve the problem. Than I will send back teh model and you can continue frustrating yourself with the texture mapping This comment was edited by Malak on Mar 20 2007 07:40pm. |
