Saving Configurations

Hi peeps,

For some reason when I play either multi-player (MP) or single-player (SP) JA I can save my games (SP), or save server URLs in my favourites (MP) but neither mouse configurations or force power binds in either. I also can't save my profile in MP which means I have to continuously change my name from Padawan to Poyntz everytime I start up JA: MP.

I'm one of those inversed pitch mouse players who can only play when the pitch is inversed, the "normal" way just doesn't work. So as you can imagine, when I play a game and I save in a tight spot, when I load that game it's really hard for me to run round like a headless chicken on the normal pitch while I try to figure out why it's not doing the inverse.

Any help on this would be awesome. I'm happy to download a patch or anything that might fix this - I already have the latest patch (to my knowledge) though.

for sp here is a trick:
go into the SP in-game and make a "quick save" its F12 by default.
Then quit and make a bat file containing this:

.\jasp +load quick

then start the game using the bat file, you will be able to change anything in game and it will remain in your cfg. Once youve done, quit again and do(!) set your jaconfig.cfg to read only.
You should be good for now on, if you want to make further changes, the easiest is manually using a text editor and re-set the cfg to read only afterwards.
For mods use the same method replacing TheModsNAme with the mod's name you want to use, using the next settings in the .bat file:
.\jasp +set fs_game TheModsName +load quick

Good Luck!

ps.
for a very easy method for pros just start to straight edit your cfg outside the game, then make it read only so the bugged menu system wont override it, then go!

That worked perfectly for MP, thanks. Didn't work for SP, but that's out of a MP dedicated site's jurisdiction so at the risk of giving you gents extra work which isn't related to MP gaming I'll keep it quiet on this topic.

Again that helped a heap. Cheers.

C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\Base
Is where you'll find your jampconfig file.
To save your settings in mp go to a server, get your charactor set the way you want, the go to the consol and type for instance useing your name, /writeconfig poyntz.cfg. Then when ever you join a server if you type in consol /exec poyntz.cfg you will have your settings. I will be on the servers tomorrow if you need any help.:D

I've just had similar problems. I found out that different mods use different folders on the hard drive. I found the the jampconfig.cfg file I wanted, and copied it to the other folder. No more setting up force powers etc.

I read the cfg files in Wordpad by the way. Hope this helps in some way :)

u can try this:

go to your Jediacademyfolder then \gamedata\base
then rightclick on the Jampconfig.cfg
click on properties,
and uncheck readonly.

that should solve your problem
