Running JK3 in Windows Vista

I recently got a new computer and was having trouble running jk3 multiplayer on it. Singleplayer would load up just fine. However multiplayer would provide the following error:

Quote:
Failed to load dll, looking for qvm.
Loading vm file vm/ui.qvm.
Failed.
Shutting down OpenGL subsystem
VM_Create on UI failed

The solution to this appears to be very simple:

1.Go to your gamedata folder for jedi knight jedi academy.

2.Right click on the jamp.exe file and choose Properties.

3.Choose the Compatibility tab.

4. At the bottom should be a section title privilege level, with Run this program as an administrator.

5. When you start up jedi knight jedi academy you will get a popup to allow or disallow the program to run. Allow it and you multiplayer will start up perfectly.

Hope this helps, and if you have other games not working in Vista I would suggest trying this as well.

since there is no need for me to open a new topic ill juts post it here....so i just tried to install JKA and no problems but before the install the autorun works perfect..but after i get some error with src/Anchor.exe or something...anyways when i try to load up the SP or the MP the second the screen pops up i get the message ''Jedi Academy isnt working anymore'' so i tried the admin thing...no luck...i tried to run it with the compibility thing for win xp...also no luck....searched google for it and nothing so i decided to just download it from D2D....but i cant let go of the feeling my orginal game that i bought years ago isnt working anymore...so is there any solution for this..and i dont mean try to run a dual booth with win xp...i know it works on vista but for some reason not with my pc

Okay peeps, I fixed my problem with Vista not running JA.

You really need the LATEST graphics drivers for your card, and I thought I had the latest drivers. Obviously I didn't :) I ended up getting the ATI Catalyst drivers from Here

And the driver I used for Vista 32bit was navigated to by selecting the OS, make of card, and finally the model of card.

I hope this will help anyone having problems.

You still need to use the original post by Buzz. But you really need the LATEST drivers for that to work :)

My error just says that it can't open the OpenGL system. Tried the fix you suggested, no luck. Tried running it compatability mode, no luck again.

Why do Microsoft have go and screw everything up every few years? It really gets up my nose

I`m almost sure that yes .. because I installed this system and did not create any account. And everytime I turn on the computer I have to type the pass for account.

*"Administrador Protegido por senha" = "Administrator password protected"

Any other ideas ? :)

Is the account that you tried doing it on an administrator account?
