The lightside isn't stronger either. Niether is. The Darkside gives you power quicker at the expense of corruption of mind and body. The light side gives you power that won't corrupt you at the expense of time. Both ways can theoretically give you the same amount of power. Mara Jade and Corran have a short discussion in I, Jedi about some of Luke's teachings and how they were different from Mara's instruction by the Emperor. The main point in that discussion was that it wasn't very different just using a different type of fuel that runs cleaner and leaner, and won't burn out the engine. There is a difference though between a light side Force user and a Jedi though. A Jedi also have a code to follow. It seems to me that as a Jedi grows in the Force and thus becomes more powerful they rely on it less. For instance a Jedi can lift rocks with his mind at a relatively young point in his Force life, and do it with some concentration. So as the Jedi grows he can lift rocks easier and larger things with more concentration. So really if Yoda or Luke wanted to they could probably float themselves everywhere. But as a Jedi grows in the Force they gain knowledge and wisdom from it. Once they have this knowledge and wisdom they don't need to use the Force to tap into it again. So a Jedi won't go floating himself around everywhere.
I'm not addressing the No sides to the Force because that is a different way of looking at the Force than the Jedi Sith and Dark Jedi, which are all from the same basis of looking at the Force. Even Yoda knew that there were different ways of looking at the Force but there was no need for anyone to really go down that path. Stronger? No. After all, light and dark depend on the same force. But the way the dark jedi use it, gives them power over others, like lightning and grip. So they use it to gain power, and might therefore seem more powerful.

Jake its not wrong. Just one way of looking at it. Well, the dark side is stronger from a sertan point of view, (quote of Obi-1, the part of the view). The power is more easy to gain, and the dark is controlled by anger, hate, stuf like that. If u are equaly strong the raged person is stronger, but he is not relying on the frece, as The Jedi would. So, I think there is no stronger side in this matter. I've heard many different versions of this, with the jedi thoery being wrong at that there are no 2 sides, just one greater force. You put forward good reasons and have the NJO books and stuff to back up and strengthen your ides. This doesn't make em right though
The jedi existed for thousands of generations, with the council contemplating the very nature of the force. Think about it, these well wise people were going at it for thousands and thousands of years. If the whole jedi theory gets proven wrong by one ex-jedi who looks weird (vergere) then thats just pants  Its a good theory but I'll stick with the original idea of dark and light, good and evil.
The EU stuff is supported by lucasarts but wasn't created by lucas himself, which in my opinion doesn't make it 'vanilla' star wars. although I spose alot of stuff in the new and old movies wasn't his idea either. But I like the best path of all. The NO-side. You don't have to choose sides as buzz's comment says. There is a way to look at the force as a whole, not as just light and dark.
Just gotta say I got this wisdom from all the cool books in EU. So it's kinda only reproducing stuff. Yoda didn't say the light side was stronger though did he. He just said that the darkside wasn't stronger. You will gain power quicker with the darkside, but the power comes with a price. With the lightside you will also become powerful, but its price is time. Soon as I saw this thread I thought it'd be another chance for me to preach about darkside in FF duels. But its in the star wars section so you're speaking star wars related, not JKII.
Firstly buzz. Thats what yoda says, but don't you think he could be a bit biased ? Yoda reckons light is better, emperor swears by the darkside.
