I used to play on the xbox, and I played for a while offline before coming online. One thing that I have noticed is that in Base JKA I can fight well enough to have a reasonable ratio, but since loading up JK+ I have not been able to get any kills at all.

At first I thought it was just a skill thing, but something today made me wonder: Why do other people seem to do more damage than me? I can hit someone in a duel 10 times and I can only get hit once or twice. I know some hits can do more damage, but I had an opportunity to test my damage on someone who must have been afk for the whole match. I did a red dfa and he didnt die until I hit him with it 4 times. I had several chances to try it on this character, and each time no matter how carefully I lined it up, it took many red dfa's to kill him, and I know for a fact that 1 red dfa can kill, cause I have been killed by them.

what gives?

You should enroll in a friday or weekend class, there are usually a few people on the servers around then, even if they are not taking part in the classes themselves. Personally I dont like the public servers, there are to many Pokers and Wigglers who exploit, which in my humble opinion ruins the game. It would be good to see you on the servers some time. If you need any help training let me know!

The academy's servers aren't as active as they used to be, but there are lots of other servers that are regularly filled - if you can tolerate people's attitudes and the differences on modded servers.

Thanks, that info helps. I have learned much since my last post. I am far from skilled but I can at least enter a duel and fell like I have a chance. Its too bad I found this game so late, I would have had fun when there was an active community.

If you are referring to the JA+ mod, it's no good for doing saber combat the same as the original game. Its best use is as a roleplay mod, but many use it anyway despite it being abusable as an admin mod and having differing combat from the original game (no modifications in this game seem to completely preserve the combat system, supposedly due to compilation issues).

There are many factors which determine the damage dealt to a person, such as velocity, the location you hit a person, the state of the swing that hits them and the opponent's defense.

Unfortunately, due to poor coding of the game, these factors can be exploited to breach the damage caps and kill a person in as little as one hit. Many people use them on public servers.

Depends how much health they have and where the saber touches them. I wouldn't recommend using rdfas or any other specials very often (best not to unless you KNOW they will work, because they leave you open to attack if you miss).
