Jedi Academy and Universal Binary | |

EDIT:
Quote: Alright, I got the problem fixed! The problem had nothing to do with my operating system or processor, it had to do with my graphics card.
Apparently, JK2 and JKA are not compatible with the Intel GMA series that they had in my model and earlier models of MacBooks. This graphics card does not run 16-Bit OpenGl, which these games start up with default. So, in order to fix this problem: 1) I had to create and "autoexec.cfg" file in the folder: users/admin/library/application support/Jedi Academy MP/base 2)Then, using a text editor, type: seta r_colorbits "32" 3) Save the .cfg file and start up the game. This tells the game to start up in 32-Bit mode instead of 16-Bit mode and it runs great. I hope this helps anyone else with the problem! So, I recently bought an Apple Macbook with an intel processor, but for some reason, neither Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast or Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy will run. I looked around, and found that Aspyr released a patch (1.0.1e) for Universal Binary. I installed it, and it still won't run. When I start up the application, it just makes this constant humming noise and remains unresponsive until I 'force quit'. I tried reinstalling the game and patch, but it had the same outcome. I emailed Aspyr about it, and still haven't gotten a response from them. It also turns out that I'm not the only one with the same problem: Quote: Yi Zhu (10/1/2008 - version 1.0.1e)
Doesn't work. I'm using OS X 10.5 and game can not be entered. Hope new patch for OS X 10.5 will come soon Quote: Mac (5/25/2008 - version 1.0.1e)
This patch cant seem to get the game running, it didnt do anything! When i first installed JA, i tried to start it without the patch and it made this weird humming noise and my computer tweaked out, i had to restart. Even with the patch, it still does this. Same thing for Jedi Outcast, Aspyr just cant get it right, i wonder if they even tested it. THIS PATCH IS WORTHLESS Quote: Icarus (1/15/2008 - version 1.0.1e)
Didn't do jack! Jedi Academy ran fine on my old iBook with OS 10.3.9, but when I try to run it on my new MacBook with 10.5.1, it starts a weird humming noise but doesn't run the program or change the screen or anything. Installing this patch -- twice -- did absolutely nothing. (The quotes were taken from comments on the macgamefiles. com download page) I would really love to start playing again, especially on my new computer one which it should run well. as anyone had a similar experience, heard of this problem, or know how to fix it? PS: JK2 does the same thing with its Universal Binary patch installed. _______________ Top ten reasons to get a better computer...|My fan This post was edited by Ashyr on Jul 06 2009 07:56pm. |
