This is kinda old news but i only really caught the wind of it.
Tim Yeung, the current drummer of Divine heresy and well known drummer in the 'extreme metal' (if you really want to call it that.) hit 872 beats on the bass drum. (The big drum you hit with your feet, using bass pedals) using a double bass pedal. Which averages out about 14/14.5 beats a second. Footage can be found here Fast, but his technique is also near enough flawless. An amazing drummer' _______________ Quote: I mostly agree oh Lord of the squeezy mop

No doubt this is a very speedy base drum kick technique, but:
While I like extreme metal quite a lot - along with blasts like this once in a while - I think it's generally more important that a drummer has feeling for a beat. There are so many drummers (even in pro bands) who are not constant during a whole song (1-5 bpm up or down during the song). Many even need a click in the in-ear monitoring before the song starts as they never start in the right speed. Happens, drummers are humans. So actually I prefer a clean play rather to endless blasts that actually can mess up the rythm of the rest pretty fast. _______________ Proud owner of Buster Senatu's 200th & 300th, Muro's 370th, Maher's 2100th, Henkes' 1639th, Johauna's 400th, 666th and 900th, Sho Koon's 2000th and Kain Sol's 600th comment Download Laziana's lightsaber here! I don't find it all that impressive, having a wickedly fast double kick going by itself is just boring.
Try and put that into a song and you'd need to be just as fast with your hands for the snare and symbols. Wooo look at my feet! _______________ I have beaten The Internet. The end guy was hard. |
