There's no sound on the youtube video, which is a bit strange. Am I the only one having the problem? Lack of sound detracts from the experience a great deal, so I'll watch it again once you fix it to see how you sync the visuals with the music.
In either case, you put a lot of effort into that video and it definitely shows. Some of the angles and cuts are pretty good, but there's still a lot of room for improvement. You should watch the amount of time you include before a frag actually occurs, because if you switch into a scene too late, i.e. if there's not enough time before the beginning of the scene and the actual frag, then the action will seem too fast and the frag itself unclear. That doesn't happen too often in your vid, but it does happen. Also, the frags at 3:40 and 4:41 are the most problematic for me, since both of them are pretty decent, but suffer in terms of visibility: the former has all the action far away from the center of the screen, with the main focus being the jump - the build-up to the frag is important, but I would recommend not overemphasizing it at the cost of the actual kill; in the latter (at 4:41), too much happens too quickly, so it's difficult to tell what actually was going on. Fast-forwarding ingame is fine, especially with motion blur, but too long periods of fast-forwarding hurt the eyes and make people dizzy (at least in my case :p ). So if you'd like to include FF, make sure you use it moderately: In fact, periods of really fast but short FF combined with strong slow-downs at critical moments may give you very interesting results. That's just a recommendation. Besides that, you took a very minimalist approach to effects, and although you can get really awesome videos with that (think tritoch's cyclone or averan's nL one), it can detract from the aesthetics if the content and camera work doesn't make up for it. So minimalism means you have to put extra creativity into content and camera work, because that's where all the aesthetic juice has to be at. You should keep that in mind for future projects. Finally, you had the right idea with the intro, but your text sounds too much like a bad TV advert: "Pure TFFA Gameplay", "New Camera Work", "Different Angles", "Enjoy!". Express those things visually in the video itself and use the space to say maybe things like: "A Jedi Knight Jedi Academy Fragevideo", "Made by IssE", "Dual Addiction", "because the cake is a lie" or whatever. But yes, good work so far. Looking forward to your next project. _______________ Find out more about the Jedi Academy Aurochs here and more about Masta here! Married to Kain. |
