Is Jedi Academy Really dying? (Must Read) | |
Sajid - The Undertitled |
OK, lets sit down and discuss this. when i saw the post on the home page, it almost made me cry. I really want to believe that NO! JEDI ACADEMY IS STILL ALIVE! TONS OF PEOPLE STILL PLAY IT! But after thinking about it, I realized that its true. Every day more and more people are not playing Jedi Academy, and even The Jedi Academy is slowing down. I remember when I first got Jedi Academy in the mail, five years ago. For me, (as it was my first real video game) it was like nothing I ever imagined. I played Jedi Academy every day, and I had no problems. I thought it would be that way for ever, and then, maybe five months ago, I started noticing that all the servers were commonly empty and even the Official JA+ Beta Test Servers were commonly filled to the brim with bots, like they are as I type. I don't exactly know what it is that is making Jedi academy less and less popular. Maybe its because of all the new games coming out like Call Of Duty: Black Ops or Halo Reach that are sucking up all the attention from the gamers out there. In my mind, the games like those listed above are simply not challenging enough. Anyway, what do you think? _______________ Brother to Quill You don't understand. ok, I see where you are confused. What I'm trying to say is that, the attention from COD BO and Halo Reach are taking away fom JA. After that, by saying halo isn't challenging enough, I mean the fact that it doesn't take any real skill to play bolth SP and Multiplayer. Your post in this thread is about the multiplayer aspect of this said game Jedi Academy, and you note low activity due to games such as Halo Reach and Call of Duty Black ops etc.... to which i answered you cannot compare the difficulty of multiplayer games due to every game being different which puts your against tougher or easier opponents each time. You then proceeded to say you was talking about the campaign of said games, Now i'll give you the campaign of Halo Reach is pretty much a must for any halo fan but Black ops ? really i haven't even touched the SP of that game and i have no desire to, i play FPS games for the multiplayer aspect of them ( I know not everyone does ) My point is the campaign of any game will not stop you playing the multiplayer of another game. The only SP game that has eaten alot of my time was Dragon Age and Mass effect 1&2 most SP games can be finished in a day / 2 days now so i don't see your logic in saying that the campaign of Black ops and halo reach have had any impact on the activity of Jedi Academy. If you think im trolling think again. i just don't understand your reasoning for your answers to my posts. _______________ Brother to Quill You don't understand. Is it because he was a whiney farm boy from some backwater hack planet? No, it's because he was a FREAKING JEDI. He could block lasers with his lightsaber. To adress the main posts last point , the two games you listed are very much brought for the multiplayer aspect and you simply cannot say any multiplayer game isn't challenging I was mainly taking about the campaign. Yeah because we all come to this website to sit on teamspeak and talk while we play the campaign of JK JA...... For you info, I was talking about Jedi academy, not THE Jedi Academy . _______________ Brother to Quill You don't understand. I'm not locked in here with you, YOUR LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME! |

And no I dont play it that much . although I agree, I stll vote JA as better than reach, and you should too. _______________ Brother to Quill You don't understand. Umm... Just saying, there is steam for Mac... This is true, however very few games are compatible with Steam for Mac (Jedi Academy is not one of those few) so you still need a tangible disc. The good thing is, Mac users can get The Jedi Academy Goldpack at any Apple store for around $30, and it includes both Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast. Pretty much a steal, if you ask me. I know! I've been planning to but the golden pack (although I already have JK:JA, this is about the only place to get JK:JO. ) you have no idea how much.I want that golden pack, and when I first saw it, with those $40 in in my hand, it was either that, or it was Star Wars the Force Unleashed: Ultamite edition. I went with TFU, seeing as I already had Jedi Academy. The next time I'm there, I'll probably get it. _______________ Brother to Quill You don't understand. Quote: Umm... Just saying, there is steam for Mac, so you can download it. I personally have both (the steam one was an old one) and my CDs are In perfect condition ( I have a special way to keep my CDs clean.) so, I don't really know why on earth I'm posting this at 2:30 in the morning, but I guess I just got bored. I should probably get to bed, but who knows how long it will take for my iPhone ( from wich I am posting), to run out of charge. Konichiwa, bye, aufweidersein, asalamualakum, and just plain афкхоц фкф!
I personally bought the package on steam so I could have a digital copy, due to my cds being in pretty rough condition. I did the same thing. I'll likely have an actual PC that's not a Mac in a week or two and might play a round or two. _______________ Brother to Quill You don't understand. Unless they fixed it the steam version won't boot multiplayer you have to actually choose jk ja and choose mp from the menu this also stops Inuit connecting through stuff like qtracker and stuff, I brought it on steam awhile ago hehe i've secretly been playing under a different name for awhile _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are Best Movie Character EVER!! |

Quote: There are a fair few new players coming in from Steam and even more so after the Decemeber sales that were just held. JK3 was going for about £3 and was also part of a pack containing all the JK games for £10.
Maybe we could draw in some new faces from there? I personally bought the package on steam so I could have a digital copy, due to my cds being in pretty rough condition. |
