I quit smoking cold turkey. I smashed my ashtrays, threw away all my lighters, and asked the lovely people at my local store not to sell me cigarettes.
That was two months ago, and I feel as though I have kicked the habit. No more cravings. In fact, my sister smokes and whenever she's near me the smell is absolutely vile. In fact, it's awesome to have a sense of smell again. 
Anyway, two months so far. I'm feeling pretty smug and awesome.  |

Well done mate. It is incredibly liberating to be free of that crap.

I quit smoking 2 months ago aswell.
It's all about replacing the habit. You're not addicted to nicotine, you're addicted to the habit of smoking. I just found out that if I replaced the temp urge, I have no probs whatsoever. Congrats on a job well done, Mike! I think you managed to get rid of your addiction completely. Because you're 'officially addicted' when you experience any form of mental or physical discomfort caused by the lack of any stimuli. Sounds like you don't have that.
Furthermore, I think it takes approximately 20 days to get a habit out of your system. You're well past that stage. I'm not an expert though, but yeah, I think you're fine now. Quitting a habit such as smoking can be extremely hard, depending on how addicted to it you've become. My mother smoked a pack in 1-2 days for 30 years, so it took her quite a while to quit smoking, but then you look at me, who smokes a pack in a week, it takes me a couple minutes to quit. Lol.
Either way, its great to hear that you're able to quit and have stayed that way for slightly over two months! It can be such a great accomplishment to quit, and you get some things back...such as your sense of smell
