That's it. I've had it. From now on, if you are enrolled in any of my classes and you don't show up, you will have 48 hours to bring me a valid excuse. If i don't get anything from you, I will not let you attend any of my classes for 2 weeks. And don't worry, I do NOT forget! Invalid excuses: - i fell asleep - i forgot - my dog ate my mouse - my dad/mom/sister/brother/goldfish had to use the computer (only accepted before and during class ) - i forgot - your class is too early/late for me - err... err.... err.... sorry g2g bye! - i forgot - etc... _______________ make install -not war This post was edited by Bubu on Apr 25 2003 09:53am. |

I think if you start penalizing students for not showing up, that class attendance will simply drop off. Many students simply don't have any reason to take the classes to begin with. Penalizing the ones that do want to take classes only serves to hurt them. --------------------------------- Now, students that do want to take classes, enroll in them, and then don't show are really doing a disservice to the others. Some of the class rosters fill up quickly, and in almost every case a few of those that signed up are no-shows for the class. When you sign up for a class and don't show, you both waste the instructors time and disrespect your fellow students by taking class spots that someone else might have appreciated having. They probably would have actually used that time too. I've said it before and will say it as many times as it takes to get you guys to understand. The foundation on which the Jedi Academy stands is respect. Respect is the one thing that keeps this place from being just like any other group of servers with all the lamers, whiners, and jerks that make it impossible for the rest of us to hang out, make friends, and most importantly LEARN. The only thing that makes the Jedi Academy capable of all those things is respect. Respect: give some, have some, pass it around and share it. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |

What about if the Trainers/Knights only have to check the box if someone DOESN'T attend class. That way if everyone show up, no extra work for the Teacher, but if one guy doesn’t show up the teacher has to do extra work for that one jerk, thereby making the teacher even more angry with the student in question. _______________ One of the Belouve boys |

or just do what i did: DIY I like that idea Monty.. I might implement it if people still don't come. Basically, my point is: If you can't make the class, what are you doing on my roster? Something like a checkmark system sounds good.. but suspending is a bit harsh maybe. Just disable their access to the classes page for a few days. Here's something off the wall. I don't know how you handled the points system before, what the method was to give them out. What if you could have more of a check mark system. Say after the class ends the roster doesn't reset until 20 or 30 minutes afterwards. Next to each enrolled student is a box. If they attended the JAT puts a checkmark in the box and the website itself keeps the tabs. The JAT's won't have to go around from profile to profile putting in a point or taking it away. But it shouldn't be you miss 5 classes and then your banned. It shouldn't be the same as receiving warnings and getting banned. This type of thing should be like a suspension. I suppose I can make up an attendance system. After a class a JAT or JAK would have to check off whether you attended or not. I could modify the site to close the accounts of students who missed say 5 classes or whatnot. This will add more work for the JAT's and especially JAK's. I am very random. I hardly ever sign up for classes because I either sleep in, forget, or decide to do something else. Is that a good or bad thing? I have to agree that this shows no class whatsoever. If you realize that you can't make a scheduled class, remove yourself from the class list. Also, leave a message for the instructor apologizing for missing class. _______________ The Force is a powerful ally... ...and a terrible foe. |

Well in real schools, you skip class enough you'll get suspended. Very nice display of non-existant-commas there Maul. But I can only back him up, it's just way to rude to not show up like that. One thing is if something unexpected happens, but just "forgetting" (and I mean "forgetting" is off the line, it's not like he's getting paid for doing this. |

U tell them BuBu, i was there and i really agree with u. Man only 4 ppl showed up thats to crazy. BuBu spends his time trying to teach us something and then the half doesnt show up. If it goes on like this i suggest u take a time i can always join not just in vacations because then there will always be one that atends ur classes ME !!!!! (takes DEEP BREATH ) |
