I'm looking for a master to help me out in either Staff or single. I'm pretty experienced with both, and very open minded, but would like to spend most of the time tweaking all the technical stuff and would love to learn from a different perspective.
Anyways, if your interested, just drop me a line on my user page or add me on xfire (MAXA) and i'll respond to you just as soon as I can. :P

I personaly don't agree with that idea ronnie. Although I think if a padawan has learnt all he/she can learn from his master he should give someone else the chance, I don't think a month time limit would work. Many people are also attached to their masters as friends, so it wouldn't go down well to end training with them like that because a set time limit had been hit.

Good luck on finding a master Ronnie, and don't give up ;)

I somewhat debate that point, however this is obviously not the forum to discuss that in. Sete makes a lot of good points Ronnie, and he knows what he is talking about ;) Perhaps ask around for someone to train with, most JAK will help you out if your timezones match, and from that you might get taken as a padawan, just give it sometime. Classes and sparring partners are superb ways to keep your skills up, and improve them, in the meantime.

It can take more than a month to fully train somebody. Personally, I don't care how it is done in the movies. If you want to learn, there is the Holocron, there is IRC, the forums, many classes you can attend, and if you really can't make any of those classes, you can get help from your fellow students and JAK+ if you bump into eachother when you both aren't busy. Usually you'll be taken on as a padawan if you fit certain requirements that the master has set. If you are in the academy long enough, maintain a respectful attitude throughout that time and have room to learn a lot more, you'll be more likely to get a master. A master isn't for everybody though. The only real need for one is if you can't make (m)any classes and aren't able to learn much more otherwise.

The point here is, there are many other ways you can learn than by having a master. Classes are pretty much what you are trying to describe there, Ronnie, except you can always go to them than for just a month.

Ok, I just started thinking, in the movies etc. everyone is assigned to a master, but it may seem (to me) that the JAC's (or those who accept Knights for testing) are very strict with accepting new JAK(+), which is leading to the fact that only a very few have a master.

Considering the fact that there is so little JAK+, My opinion is that a JAK+ have a padawan ie a month at a time, so that everyone can see how it is to be trained by a master.

But that's just my opinion.

Its an interesting perspective, and feedback from new students is appreciated, however in the case of the master and padawan system, it varies with the person. Some JAK+ have very different methods towards selecting padawans than others, and each has their own unique style. Its great for example to see R2D2 and Janus training a whole crop of new staffers and dual saberists at the moment. While i'm sure everyone can appreciate what you are saying, that getting a master can be hard work, especially as the number of JAK+ is limited, this is the system, and its upto the JAC and the JAK+ themselves to decide how that system works.

In my admitadly limited experience, if you are patient, and try and be active on IRC, the servers and the forums, then it won't be long before you start building a rapport with different members, which can lead to 'unofficial' masters or training partners, and of course official masters. :)

Exactly. Any JAK+ can take on tons of padawans, or even the entire JA if they want to LOL :P Thing is, once you take on a padawan, you're also responsible for their training and progress. You can only take so many at a time, which is why JAK+ keep a certain limit, although it may be exceeded sometimes by 1 or maybe 2 paddies.

I don't think there actually is a limit, but yeah like you said no master will take on too many padawans at a time.

Is there a limit on the number of padawans a Knight or Council member can take on? Or is it a self made limit. (ie they make it)

Depends what you mean. If you're interested in moving up in rank to JAK, consult the Holocron and it should give you all the information you need. However, if you want to be a padawan of a current JAK or above, post here :)

I could need a master to train me, mostly in the use of a single saber and force powers (light and dark). I've been playing the JK games for like, 10 years or so (ever since Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II and Jedi Knight: Mysteries of The Sith).
I really hope for a master, who can teach me the skills and all that is needed for me to someday become a Jedi Knight.:)
