i have been at the JA for 2 months now and it's sad what i have noticed. it seems as though the students here believe the only way to learn something is to attend classes or to have a master. this is not so! part of the JA's greatness is that it provides a place for students to interact with and learn from each other. there is an extremely limited amount of high ranked individuals, therefore making it impossible for us all to have our own masters. and just because they are higher ranked, doesn't mean they know it all. they can still learn too. i encourage all you students, and you JAK/JAT/JACs, to get out on the servers and ask for help from your fellow academy attendees.

thanks for your time. :D

I also have to disagree here, dude. I have also been here for around two months, and i ahve a seen a different story on the servers. When I joined up, if I was to ask "Can anyone help me with my red stance?" on the servers, I can bet that there is at least one person willing to help me and take the time to do it. When I first joined up, it was Narsil who first helped me, and to say that most students here only look to get a master to learn is a bit narrow-minded. With all due respect, I advise that you take a closer look at the servers, and the posts here on the website.

I don't disagree with students helping other students. That is not the point I disagreed with you on. I disagree with you saying the students think the only way to learn is to go to class or have a master. I think that students have known for quite awhile that the other students can teach them a few things. I don't believe in "You're not a trainer you shouldn't teach."

I'm with Buzz on this one. If someone doesn't know something, offer to show them. I remember people offering to show me stuff. Then I learned it completely, and could teach others. Exciting stuff.

And yeah as one of the many Amsters out there, and an Apdawan, the unofficial system seems to be working.

i didn't say i wasn't guilty of it either...i was merely making a suggestion. but if you disagree with students working with other students, that's your perogative.

I recall you pestering higher members with "will you be my master?" when you joined Faded. Have you considered after they go "wow you're good" responding with "Would you like me to show you a few things so you can be better?" Higher ranked members are known to be able to teach people things. A student could be the greatest in the game and can smoke everyone they play, but they might not be able to effectively teach any of it.

leave it to buzz to disagree...

yes, buzz, i'm aware that there are those who do training with others. but what i am seeing with people i duel is, "wow, you're really good," yet they don't seem to realize that perhaps i have something to teach them. instead they pester the higher ranked members with, "will you be my master?"

Well I've really got to disagree with you Faded. There are a lot of students that have unofficial padawans and teach them how to play. I see a lot of students trying to help out others and them willing to listen. Even you do some training with Carve and both of you are students. I think you should try and take a little bit of a closer look.

Or even better, get out on the publics :) If you wanna learn the extremes and the limits of the game, go on publics, as you'll encouter pretty much anything that works out there, be it cheap or not.

I agree though that one to one training is definately a lot more effective than a whole class, but most classes wouldn't be as esy to teach with just one person, thats why we have classes :)

In conclusion, help your fellow man, and your fellow man will help you (this isn't sexist is it ?)

Great idea there. I've been with the Academy since mid January and seen the points system come and go along with ranks, back then there were alot more newer players
I remember a time where me and 2 other Initiates were talking to a Journeyman and having him teach us some basics and moves, you remember Ioshee.. the taunt duel we did..hehe..

anyway, what i'm curious is that might there be a way, i know it's kinda returning to something similar to the Ranking. but this is something you can't change via trials or anything, is there a way we know of who has been here a while.

plus the people who join now, are those who have been online a while and have developed an "attitude" toward the game and how they believe they should act. i'm sure you may or may not agree, but i'm asking those who have been here a while to have a look at people on the JA servers, compared to how people used to act..
