Alot of us encountered them on the KS of DJ's server...their tag seems to mean Jedi Academy Goblin(correect me if i'm wrong), they are trouble makers and disturbs our gameplay, for now it's not a very big deal but we don't know how many JAG's are out there, but those people are very frustrating and it's not easy to stay calm and to not reply to their attacks...so what i am asking you is what should we do abt them (don't say report them to JAT's, i know this)
p.s. to JAT's : i'm not saying youre not doing your job ! in fact i would like to thank JumpinJedi and Acidic for helping us with those trouble makers... _______________ Back for good... |

Actually, the oldest visual representation I know of for a gremlin was done by Warner Brothers- Looney Tunes. Short little green punk with huge ears giving Bugs some trouble on a Bomber. Between that and Gremlins the film, there was a segment in the Heavy Metal film called Gremlins. my point is that one man's fun is another man's misery. it might be fun to break the rules, but why do we have rules in the first place if this place is just for fun? the answer is first of all this place is not JUST for fun, but also for learning. and also, rules help control the fun. fun that gets out of control is no longer fun. get what i mean? if you let a little annoying gremlin roam around and piss people off, soon you will have as many gremlins in the ja as in the movie.  rules cannot be bent, only broken. _______________ make install -not war This comment was edited by Bubu on Jan 10 2003 05:57am. |

Hmm... I'm curious, was anyone actually *really* bothered by this gremlin?
I can understand being annoyed if you were killed a few times in a row just as you'd completed the long walk to the matrix by someone jumping you and repeatedly kick dfa'ing you or suchlike, but surely (unless you have a lag monster attacking you simultaneously) this is an opportunity to practice evasion. If you were chat killed and it really annoyed you then why? Is it really so bad that you have been killed in the academy? In the middle of a messagemode3 conversation I imagine it could be quite annoying especially if it happened more than once, but I doubt that it would raise more than an eyebrow from me. I understand that vulgar chat spam could be really annoying but with staff (JAK/JAT) present they can and should be silenced. Perhaps a spam/foul language filter could be added to the AcademyMod? It'd certainly make this community more popular with parents. 
I havn't to my knowledge encountered the gremlin but I would like to have done as I think the whole affair would be quite amusing and adds a little story/plot/interest/variety to the academy.
It wasn't gone about the right way in my opinion, but an annoying little gremlin character plaguing the academy sounds like a good way to spice up the learning experience. Hmm, maybe that should be a mildly irritating but generally amusing little gremlin. If you ever see me wearing the [JAG] tag feel free to kick me as hard and as often as you like. I only ask that you let me get up once in a while 
Please remember that this is only a game and as you surely read when you applied for an account this place is for fun. Also bear in mind that you don't have to be an adult to play JK2 and many of the players here aren't. You might think it's funny to be vulgar but most 'normal', decent folk don't.

As for the discussion this spawned. I don't think they're neither terrorists nor gangsters. The G in my opinion stands for Gremlin, those annoying little scaly fellas who serve no purpose rather than multiplying and bieng more annoying. Actually, to refute, terrorists do not need a cause to defend. They simply wish to bring about some change.
I've studied terrorism for almost 4 years now, so I know the definitions. But back to the JAG problem. They aren't really hurting anyone but themselves. It's like the terrorists who stomp anthills. disclaimer: this is just a ranodm thought. If I'm out of line, I partially agree with you too. Terrorism: the use of violence to bring about political change or political objectives. I know the definiton is more complex, but I don't want to research too much. My point is this. Doing some dumb thing like this is no better than people who hate some other organization, so they strap explosives to themselves and wreak havok. I absolutely despise being woken up at 2 am because someone blew up a bus in Israel (I'm political science / national security emphasis, so I choose to stay informed) But now we have people doing things that meet the same definition. You can hate terrorists all you want, but when you use violence (albeit videogame violence) to bring about change, you are no better. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. i personally had the pleasure (?) to meet an other JAG, i wont name him. after sleeped and silnced, he asked me to give him a chance, and he seemed to behave after that. why you guys think it's an organisation or something? i think its just one guy with several names. he claimed to be a "Jedi Academy Gangster"... and when was he last seen? i think nothing has happened after JJ organised a furious hunt with 12 empowered students on one silenced and sleeped JAG  i'm pretty sure he wont come back, or did he lately?  _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |

The password on the server should be changed, then if it happens again we have to ask how the passwords are getting out. for Phantoms sake.
Giveing out academy password i presume is against the rules. if the password was changed phantom would be able to get on with his training without the worry of a brother spioling it for him. I would be in favor of this rather than banning the IP address _______________ Sit vis nobiscum. |

Well,
I've been trying to figure out the same thing. One of the members of the group, decided to run around with saber on and run it through ppl who had chat boxes up or afk. So, being the Knight I was, I told him to knock it off, and dueled him a lot (he's cheap, but I let him win, if it gives him that warm fuzzy feeling.) I KNEW he was going to DFA me if I bowed first, but well, just needed to keep him going until he reached whatever twisted orgasm he was after. But, then, he just starts attacking others, since he sees I'm just playing with him. So I put him to sleep, tell him to behave, and wake him up. He calls me an @$$ varios times in private. I simply say aloud "Snoop thinks I'm an @$$, does anyone think differently?" Well, his opinion lost out. But I had to kick him in the end, was really no way around it. Put him to sleep, he'll spam vulgarity to people. Now that I think (for a whopping 43 min a day ) I can sleep-silence, right?
Then they leave of their own volition. So, what do we do? Well, first off...don't be like them. This seems obvious, but... Don't chat kill... Show respect... And... Don't call Snoop an @$$. Snoop called me an @$$. So then you would be behaving like HIM, right? Other solution, yes, it sucks... Ban them. But wait! Phantom would be banned too... Look. My brother has done dumb stuff to get me in trouble. I've done dumb stuff to get him in trouble. He's gotten me kicked out of things, I've gotten him kicked out of things. And you know what we do? We say "You're a dick!" and grab the closest blunt object and knock some sense into each other. So, solution, for Phantom. We might ban you, but just throw your brother against the nearest wall or something. (Beware, like me, my bro got bigger and tossed me INTO a wall, literally. Broke the drywall.) So. That's life. There are dorks all over. We can be dorks right back, or we can live with it. So, I say, ban them if it gets this bad. Phantom just has to throw his bro around some. That's life. simple way to do with those guyz.
1. dont attack them back just try to get away form them. 2.if they try to find u and kill u agian dont respond if u do u will be like them. 3.If he/she breakes the rulz just record a demo or take a screene dont even tell them that u took it and send it to a jat/jac. i hope there are not many peeps like that they should thank to Dj, Dobbie,ava,silent for building the site and planning the plans. they should also thank to the jats thay give them classes. and also to dj and hux fore keeping them in the server just 1 simple command thx to chosen and they cant connect to server anymore... _______________ ...... |
