A few months after the removal of ranks

Yes, I thought I would write something for the forums again. I was biking when I thought of the JA. How the place has changed after the removal of the rank-system. There where many people that looked down at people "below" them. They thought that you had to have a high rank to be skillfull. Well, most of us know what was goin on in that time so I'll stop saying what went wrong etc. Now about how the place is now. I see around me a lot of JAK's. There are some people that complain about the "easiness" that some had to abtain the rank. I don't knwo anything of that. The only thing I can say is something through observation. The JAT's and JAK's that I meet never look down on someone. They take on challanges from everyone. They don't talk about how good they beat everyone. They don't lame if you beat them (because we all know guys, that someone who you can beat often doesn't have to be bad. Your style may be very succesfull against his.) All this good behaviour has done the JA well (I don't mean that other people's behaviour didn't:D). People see most people acting this way and becuase the most people do it, it's becoming completely normal to behave that way. And they pass it on to others.
Lol this has become something else then I had in mind. But I still think the reason of this change is the rank-removal. Because now only the people who can really handle it have authority, and the rest is all equal to eachother (again, this does not mean that all of us students can't handle authority.) Well I just wantwed to say this and ask for your opinion!

I reached journeyman too. And I know the feeling whne the ranks where removed. At first I had the feeling like. DAMN!!! How can they do this. Becuause I thought I could do Knight trial n a week with my class points. Only a week thereafter I noticed how silly this was. Just because I had nearly all the class points of coarse didn't mean that I was ready for the task. IT was kinda not fun to find out. But it puts you in the place where you belong, it learnt me not to think that I can do a lot of things better then others. At that point I dropped nearly all classes and just focussed on getting some new friends in the JA. And i learned that just having a solid group of trainingspartners is just as good as having a padawan. Well, hehe, I held back, it's not long this post so I'll quit while I'm still able to.:P

Nice post Kueller. I've seen emotions rise and fall here at the Academy but all in all it's been great all the way around. I actually felt some relief as silly as that sounds when the ranks were removed. I felt like I had rushed to Journeyman even though I knew rushing things was not the smartest way to do things. My only regret was that we were all labeled as “student” instead of something cooler like “DJ’s kid” or “Doobie’s B!7<}{”

BTW, I almost peed my pants from laughing so hard when you said "…sneaks away on his socks” I don’t know why that struck me as so funny, but it did. Thanks

Yeah,

But I liked the ranks. I used it to gauge if someone was new. It worked pretty well, and I found that I could have a target group (initiates) that I could train.

Kueller - Good post, good points.

fiZZ - ...although I can understand what you're saying too.

Sniya - Boy, don't you know it.

Tallepyon - Exactly. JAK's are far more than 1337's. They have to be. And it was hard to not get caught up in the "judge ye by rank" thing. Although I can see both sides of the story, I'd have to fall into your camp.

Knights are teachers were not just picked on their skills but also on there people skills and how they handle situations. Alot of people think they are just have good skills but is much more than that. It also takes a little time to realize this though. I think they are doing a good job and keep it up.:) The rank system had lots of problems. People got egotistic and it kind of made it into a clan which it isnt at all.

it aint too long.
I was woundering about that ,too. but I dont hang out a lot on JA servers, i found the public's style to be very difficult, and that should be focused on in classes, to my mind.

Plus, I never had those problems about looking down, or up, just the opposite, in the beginning Jmen and others were encouraging me to improve.

As you all probably know, I liked the ranks. Now, even without them, there's some sort of "rating" amongst the students. Ehwnenver I meet a JAS on a public server, he asks how long I've been in the JA. and many ppl were surprised because they were shiny new in the JA and they trashed me. well. what my point is ?

It is a difficult lection not to judge a book by its cover, but one that is necessary.
