Hmmm, well in my opinion to be a well rounded JKII player, you need to play all the gametypes, even if you don't think they are much use. For example, dueling helps you with FFA so you can use the swings with most damage, etc, CTF is helpful for dueling and FFA as it teaches you movement, and you learn the maps. Jedi Master helps you out with force and saber against guns, holocron helps you out with limited force training. All the game modes go hand in hand, in my opinion, you can't be great at one without being good at another. Don't bash the publics, they are great fun, and the best way to train and test your limits, not only of your skills, but of your patience and keeping your composure as well. If you can go on a public, be typekilled, but say nothing then you're doing well  Remember, publics are not the academy, they don't all abide by our rules. Pluse its fun to go on a public and rack up a few kills every now and then.Its also possible to learn new stuff from publics. How to phrase this......The academy is sort of incestuous (not in a bad way, let me explain ) as all the same information gets passed around. Bodster: you don't know what you're missing. Our original intent was to make a place where you'd train for a while and then go back to the pubs and play better. It didn't really turn out like that, but I'm not complaining about it. If people want to stay I'm more than happy to have them stay. Virtue, you really summed up a lot of what I was thinking when I read this thread originally. The frustration of the public servers, the desire to learn ... I have been in public servers since joining, but I find myself chatting more than dueling when I do go. |

The JA [Home] Server basically IS a FFA server. Of course, it's only available to Academy members but that's smething that draws most of us in. To Date, MOST of the entire highly skilled and honourable JK2 community players belong to this very Academy. Alot of people spend most of their JK2 playing time at the Home Server, Why? Because it's one of the few Servers where people know that they are Guaranteed a challenge. As stated above, most of the JA Members are very skillfull. Even when we are not taking classes or training with our personal Instructors, the home servers offer a place to play, chat and grow in skill naturally. Alot of people DO go to other FFA servers, alot get by and have fun on them. The JA servers are more than just servers, they are a community place. We know the people that go in there, we like the people that go in there, so, WE go in there. If you are looking for a challenge whereby you are not constantly asked to join a clan, not contantly having to deal with peoples bad n00b, 1337 attitues in some cases, not having to deal with play stiles that you do not find interesting (IE. Being chased with a guy wihth a RL all around Nar Shadaa whan all you want is a Decent Jedi Duel) - Then you will find what you are looking for at the Jedi Academy. Your point was that the Jedi Academy was built to give people a better insight to normal FFA Servers, and help them grow in skill so thet they may leave their mark on those same servers, and the answer is - It Does. People do go to other Servers from time to time. But unless you are the overall champion player of the Jedi Academy, there is nothing that you can't handle, you are the best ever - Then you'll want to learn, learn more and not stop untill you are completely satisfied with your skills. The answer to this, is - The Jedi Academy. Even some of our best Students are still learning new things, even though they didn't know they could. To put an end to my inane drivel here. I'll just state that it's not hard to see your point. In lot of cases, it may be true. I spent a lot of my JK2 time playing here. I then spent a lot of time playing other servers. After utterly dominating everyone I met on other servers and having them ask me how I was so good, I directed them here. (Just for the record, I don't consider myself to be very good at all...unlike the general public, I just don't DFA over and over) Then I quit playing for about a month. I don't think they'll be gone. You really think that just because they don't want to play JK2 anymore that they won't want to come and play Jedi Academy when it comes out. Many people will more than likely be back and around often once Jedi Academy is released. Guys, This place is getting kinda old tho. It doesn't feel like it, but then again Only The other regulars and I would know. There are nearly no regulars left. not the Regulars I used to meet.
