Sort of going along with the site ideas, I was woondering if any artists wanted to make a Jedi Academy insignia. The current one is just some Screenshot of Kyle. I'm thinking like a JA Crest, etc.
Think of some cool JA isignia that would look sweet as an insignia. I'm also thinking of having the crest/insigia support looking slightly different for each rank. But have a main one we can use, instead of the back of Kyle's head, like we currently have. If you want e-mail them to me. I have the insignia ready-to-go, except...
I suck at coloring things on the computer. I have no real software. If someone would like to finish coloring it in for me, that'd be great. Contact me if you wish to do so. Currently, it is a multiple-piece insignia. Each piece gets "colored" when you rise in rank. Pieces thus far: Initiate: You have no colored pieces. It's all just black/white Learner: Green - Self-discipline Journeyman: Red - Responsibility Knight: Yellow - Public Service Trainer: (two pieces) Blue - The Goal of Peace and Knowledge Council: (two pieces) Orange - The Goal of Serenity and the Unity of the Force This will all look great once the insignia is done. It really looks like a stained glass window, if I can really SAY what it looks like. I hope you all will like it. All the main principles of a Jedi are in there. And no, no lightsabers, and no Force powers there. That's not what a Jedi is about. These items are what a Jedi truly is. But contact me ASAP if you want to play a student that does computer coloring book stuff. Just finish coloring where I have a blotch of red, blue, etc. Here's my direct e-mail. I promised the ingignia over the weekend. But well, I went home, and have things to do there.
I am working on it tonight. Hope to have it done for tomorrow. Also, I need to figure out how to post the final item here. And thanks to, um...Silencio for his design. Just to note, I'm ahead of you guys in terms of representinf principles and the Jedi code.
Expect to see some post of the insignia after the weekend. And, since I have the Jedi Code as my wallpaper, here it is: There is no emotion, only peace. There is no ignorance, only knowledge. There is no passion, only serenity. There is no death, there is the Force. Of course, it helps if you truly understand what all that means. we should represnt something in the logo.
a circle that is cut horizontal in three pieces, biggest lowest part are the students, upper part for istructors and peak small one is the council. surround it with hands protecting it, an olive thing or whatever... oh, and it helps if you do it in 3d. u can add cool stuff like golden look, lightning etc very easy. generaly we should express the main jedi acdemy guidelines. -diciplin -friendship -open for everyone -balance/harmony dunno how to do it though  _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |

I like a lot of the designs that we have so far (one sent to me, ones posted, and ones described.)
I'll take some time later to pull some of the best parts together, and make some significant insignia. I'll also take some SS during classes for our background. I was thinking something along the lines of a UN type olive branch going in a half circle at the bottom (if u don't know what I mean search for UN and have a look at their insignia) And sitting in the olive branch could be a pair of scales, representing balance of the force. |

I can't seem to find it right off hand, unfortunately, but there is a sigil of the Jedi order on www.theforce.net somewhere. Looks something like a disc with three handles projecting from it... Perhaps somone can blend that with banner like Fighter squadron patches? I agree with the lightsabers being predictable. I also have the notion that a Jedi is a far lot more than their lightsaber and skills therein.
As we see, best in RotJ, the Jedi uses the lightsaber as a last resort. HOW MANY things did Luke try to do to release Han and others? He even gave Jabba a last chance. Only THEN did we see him use a lightsaber. So yes. Something that may represent this balance. To quote a sword master: "When all is said, a sword is a tool of destruction, not salvation. The only way I can maintain my humanity is to bury its victims." I think the same applies to sabers. Try to capture the Jedi spirit in something other than a saber. Also, Whoever sent me their one image for the insignia (intials KF), that didn't download right. Contact me on IRC, and I will give you my school address for non-junk. I haven't really read any of the extended universe books, and I don't think the movies really show anything in this regard, so I have no clue what a symbol for jedi's should look like. All I hope is that there aren't any lightsabers in it, as that would be BEYOND clichèd =) I'm thinking something showing balance, but it seems like the Jedis like to supress the dark side. I think it'll be interesting to see what the BioWare people come up with for Knights of the Old Republic. |
