Here everyone from the worst student (I can only say that because I'm talking about myself ) to the best at least TRY to help people out if they need help/training/have questions (Talking generally, it's not in my character to believe that everyone is helpful, friendly and polite, not even here where it's so good). And of course all of the others made some good speeches, as our Lead Knight said. Btw, been wondering, you say that this Knight list is big, but is it just those who have nomination(s), or is it generally who are Knight material? 'Cause if it's the first then there's a lot more people out there with nominations than I knew.... well, of course it helps on the info getting out when everyone confuses me with you....  " |

hmmm, that is a doozy, it all depends where you live really.... If you're close to the servers, then you might just be able to get away with it, otherwise try the NL server. Good speeches gentleman. The main difference between an "Advanced" student and a Knight is that knighthood implies commitment and recognition for a good job as "advanced student". As a student you can teach , help, etc. whenever you feel like it. As a Knight it is your duty. You must uphold the law while in servers, help a JAT when requested (if you are on the server at the moment of course), and if you wish to became a JAT someday you are obliged to teach as a Knight (witch implies a preparation period, blah blah bla..). Also as a knight you will receive proper tutoring on the Art of teaching. That’s should be the main quality of a JAT/JAK. Knowing how ot teach, many ppl are extremely good players but they are unable to pass their knowledge. There are many fine candidates to an extremely number of vacancies, although some might feel forgotten but if they are doing a good job they probably aren’t. There is a list. A big list. So eventually everyone will get a go at it. It's just a matter of time. Think of the wait as part of trial. Patience and character are highly looked upon when selecting someone. yeah, Jake, but this is the path that lies beyond most ppl in here, I presume. but, just look at the huge amount of people that stepped down from the knight rank lately - this implicates there has to be some background - also for you who are new in the JA. Oh of course theres no problem with striving for something . Most of us more 'advanced students' are here to help others, but lets not forget to help ourselves as well I would like to take the Knight written test and trial just to see what it is like, since theres so much secrecy surrounding it all. Plus people have said it is hard, I like a challenge, something that would test my gameplay skills not my good manner Some people say they 'deserve' the Knight rank as it is defined here. Some people I do agree with, they have shown all the things which in my opinion would make a good Knight here and they'd fit in well. Others think that just because they have greater skill, and say hi to everyone new who joins makes them a worthy candidate. The truth is, anyone who say they 'deserve' to be a knight, doesn't. As I have understood it, you are chosen, you do not choose. I'll admit that for a while, even I was on a personal conquest for knighthood, I have no shame in admitting that. Becoming knight was all I thought about, I'd help people jsut for the sake of it, when I was training people I'd talk in main chat instead of private so that trainers or JAC's could hear. Looking back, I'm ashamed of this, it got me nowhere, lead to frustration and poor tuition of the studetns I was training. I've gone above this now (why do I keep talking about jsut me ? theres loads of people out there like me) About all the social stuff, sure thats nice but like I said before thats not what a being a knight is about. Ah I give up what do I know, talking bout all this Knight stuff like I'm experienced I may not know the academy as well as some of the other people here, but I know the type of place this is, and I love it I'll stay as long as you'll have me.In conclusion, I'll plug on, for you others who are eagerly awaiting knighthood like I once was, be patient, if you're meant to be a knight you will be... _______________ Apprenctice of Jedi Master Ascari (deceased) Descended from a line of great Jedi Will argue any point of view from any side

nah jake you didnt say anything contraversial the only point i wanna add is concerning this "Many people here think that people want a rank just so they can show off and feel better in themselves, which makes it look bad for people who this rank was actually made for. The people that want to help, who care nothing for personal glory or benefit. " yes, i realize that obtaining the knight rank should not be in vain. one should not obtain the rank just to show it off. that is absurd. but what if a person wants to obtain the rank as sort of a personal goal. see, i wouldnt mind one day become a knight. but i know its a long hard journey involving hours of training and dedication. and that is why i am interested in become a knight. because its a personal goal for me to accomplish. i dont accomplish much in life, so for a person like me to complete the task of becoming a knight, it would be a monumentual boost of self confidence, which is something im severly lacking at the moment. now dont get me wrong, i still feel that ones goal in becoming a knight should be to help out, but i dont see anything wrong with making it a personal goal to strive for. _______________ "We keep odd hours...." ----------------------- They Live, We Sleep |

I agree with you Jake. I for one already feel as if I do alot of the duties a knight would. I help out when i can, I train others, I help keep the peace, and I know I still have alot to learn. However someone seeking to obtain the rank of Knight is honorable I think. Yes you can do all the same things a Knight can do (with the exception of admin rights) without having the rank. However having the rank gives you just a slight nudge up the ladder when it comes to community envolvement. There are certain aspects of our community thats Knight get to assist in that you cannot do without that rank. To me Knighthood is equivalent with the next step of commitment and envolvement in the Jedi Academy Community. |

well, I wanted to point you to the FAQ section, but I have just noticed that the portion about ranks has been removed, well then. Basically, we just dont want anything like ranks or tags to judge people before knowing them. we are all equal. we all want to have fun, and we all have to obey the rules. Thats not to say you won't become a Knight Many people here think that people want a rank just so they can show off and feel better in themselves, which makes it look bad for people who this rank was actually made for. The people that want to help, who care nothing for personal glory or benefit. Consider myself for example. I'm not a Knight, nor to I ever see it happening. But, I consider myself a Knight/Trainer, doing everything which a rank here stands for. The way I see it, having an extra 3 letter tag on the end of your name doesn't change the person you are, if you act like a knight, then YOU ARE A KNIGHT. Ok so maybe it won't be listed on the site and you wouldn't get admin powers or all the other fringe benefit things like that, but is any of that really what being a knight is all about ? My name is Jake Kainite, I'm here to help. I don't care about rank, if someone wants help I'll help them, if someone wants training I'll train them, if someone misbehaves I'll set them straight. I've gone beyond learning, as theres not much else I can learn from the trainers which is why I now turn to students and their fresh knowledge brought in from the oustside world (otherwise known as the forbidden place,public servers), I'm here to help others learn and in turn learn from them. You're here to learn so you can get better at the game and have fun, not get better just so you can increase your standing among other players at the academy. There are clan if you're into that sort of thing. Theres basically like 4 ranks Council - DJ, Whispy, Doobie, C1, and Hux These are the people in charge of running the place. Also known as JACs. Instructors - Too many to mention right now, but they are the ones who teach classes usually (cept Hux). You can find them by a [JAT] tag. Knights - Think of a mini-teacher, or a T.A. These people help out with all kinds of miscellaneous crap. Them and anyone above ^^ can take on padawans (officially). They help control the servers, and are still students basically. Staff - Special Rank, you are appointed by the Council to be in charge of something specific. They can make news posts.
