Hello everybody!!! I was just curious how everybody feels about people stopping to talk during the middle of a duel. It personally doesn't bother me but I didn't know whether it upset anyone or not. Please comment on this! Thank you!! :)

I would be delighted to accept your offer Acey, I like taunting on IRC, if only I didn't write so slowly and have this annoying thing where I HAVE to go back and change all the misspellings (not a word on my spelling from you! :P)...

hehe..just a Thought, but i hearby offer a challenge to anyone out there. If you have played the old "curse of monkey island" games, you've noticed the fighting in that as Insult fighting.

So i'd like to offer the challenge out there to anyone who can beat me in a taunt fight. which i've done once before against a guy trying to kill me seriously in a duel. it was the time when zero( i think it was) was being silly and kept dueling a guy he wanted to beat. he died, and i stepped in and challenge the guy (sorry i forgot your name). He was good. and could beat me easily, especially with my ping, but i lasted about 2 mins or so, I pushed my advantage, and during a jump i'd quickly open the chat, type something silly and keep going, in the end he killed me after getting annoyed and loosing his cool during the duel, thats what gave me the advantage. anyway, i hearby offer the challenge to see who can beat me..ehhe..

well...talking during Duels. where shall I start.

yes i do actually do it myself, but it's nothing serious, and only to give other gamers a smile. don't get what I mean, where here's an example.

1 time online, Silent Whisper and myself were dueling in the old trial room, the enclosed one. and she wouldn't attack, and i was only strafing back and forth. this went on for a few minutes, so I though what the hell. stopped..turn my back to her, looked down and typed " **wiggles Ass** ". after that and a few more strafes, we went straight back into it and she beat me. *shrugs*

I play this game for fun, and if there is a comment you wish to make during your fight. not anything important, just something your character would do...Bind it to a key so you dont' take up time typeing it. another example Javaguy has bound and puts up before each duel "I'd like to dedicate this duel to my mom". To me I think that's great. plus I have a few of my own that i do during duels. all which are bound so as not to loose the flow of it. If you want to know them duel me and you'll find out.

So in closeing i'd like to say. This is a game. there are some who take it seriously, and others that come for the community for it. I myself come for the fun and Community, and yes I am serious at times..well sometimes, but not most of them.

so i say there is nothing wrong with a small bound sentence during a duel. if you want to talk go to a chat room or don't duel, and others should respect it. don't try to talk to someone dueling.

its fine as long as they dont get mad at you for nailing them right as they go into the console; besides, sometimes there may be a reson to pause or disscuse a tatctic, idea or "personal" rule of duals. however, it can be irritating if they stop to have a long chat with someone who isnt involved in the fight or if its being done to avoid having to take responsibility for a loss.

Usually it doesn't bother me, but when someone constantly just stops, opens the chat box, and takes about a minute to type the word "hp", it gets annoying.

I do take this game very serouily, but I wont diturb the peace even if they talk durning a duel. I would probley do the same a Chicka, just dont duel them agin (unless if he/she the only one there, dont be rude).

I agree it is just a game, but that doesn't mean I have to put up with someone being rude. So if you frequently talk when I'm dueling you, I probably won't be dueling you again ;)

I have to agree with what Chicka posted. Very well stated. :) Where this is only a game, to others it can be more then that. Not saying that's my case or anything, but I have friends who are very competitive and I know that this type of action would upset them greatly. Just my opinion, but I feel we should try to look out for all of the people that play a serious game. :) Just trying to keep the peace in the Jedi Academy. I love this place!!! :) Koyi ;)

Unprofessional? Who's doing this professionally? I didn't know anyone was getting paid.

And aren't most of the duels on the Academy servers meant for training, at least in a general sense?

But now I know not to talk to Chicka during a duel. No problem bud:)

I think it's just plain rude to have a conversation with someone while you're dueling, even if you only write a couple words each time. It completely interrupts the flow of the duel, and especially if you're say, dueling in a tourament, don't talk at all! lol. Also, stopping to type 'lol' isn't good either, it's like: "Put down your sabre, foe! I must take a moment to chuckle at something the guy sitting at that table said. *chuckles* Now, where were we?"

How unprofessional!
(The only time it would be appropriate to interrupt your duel to give advice or tips would be if the reason you were dueling in the first place was to teach/train. But if it's a normal duel, wait until the end.)

dont bother me.

especially when u are duelling someone with a higher skill or more eexperience its very handy to stop the duel and ask: how did u do that ?, omg my helath went down to 34 with one hit.... stuff like that is quite handy - on the other hand :D

I feel the same way as you buzz. But most people just say "I'm in a duel" to a good friend who is talking to them. And sometimes when someone stops during a duel to give you a hint on your style it doesn't bother me as well;)

If you're getting into it pretty good and suddenly they jump back and start typing a long drawn out thing and do it more than once then it becomes annoying. I mean is it really that important that you can't finish the duel before getting deeply involved in the convo.
