hm I've tried it with the normal wine yet, didn't compile it myself, though.
it worked flawlessly out of the box. W7o sound, though. grafix ran silky-smooth, but at low detail and imho low colours. I'll keep u up2date .... _______________ One of the Belouve boys, founder of the mighty FiZZsters Midbie council #20 - Fizz - #1933 - Jan '03 - Aug '04 "Renfield, you idiot!" |

I am about to try. kept up with that wine thingy some time ago, but wasn't aware it's so good developed by now.
But my mac is probably too sloow (PPC601) so I gotta make the match within my snootchy-bootchy linux. _______________ One of the Belouve boys, founder of the mighty FiZZsters Midbie council #20 - Fizz - #1933 - Jan '03 - Aug '04 "Renfield, you idiot!" |

WineX is a Linux program that allows you to run windows based games in Linux. It's kindof like a compatibility layer, but not an emulator. The folks at TransGaming do some EXCELLENT work with it.

I read somewhere that WineX caps your FPS somewhere around 50FPS via software. No biggie. ![]() _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

I've played under WineX
I do have to say that i was very surprised with the results. I got a steady frame rate of about 50 frames per second. Which is less than my windows 50-80 fps , but not as jumpy in frame rate. Whenever i would walk around the frame rate wouldn't skip around, and would be around 50 at all times. It was pretty nice. BTW i keep up to date with my video cards drivers. Its a Geforce 2 GTS 32mb The only problem i've had with WineX, was when i got some strange error about some secrity feature. Then it stopped running. lol _______________ Whatcha gonna do when the Rodster runs wild on you!? Roddymania is still runnin wild! |

My mac doesn't have a decent 3d chipset, but I've thought about using it as a server. I can't find any info about whether the mac version can run a dedicated server, though. I'd hate to buy it and find out it doesn't. |

My experience with Mac systems was very pleasant. Way better than windows. They just have to figure out how to speed up their systems and be able to compete. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |
