Hitting when on the ground

I just wanted to know what people think of hitting when the other player is on the ground.

I personally think that is not right to hit the opponent after a saber lock. However, i do consider fair to hit the other player after a kick, becasue this requires some skill. What do you guys think?

I don't ever hit on the ground, i think it's very disrespectful hitting someone while they're down, but if they do it to me, i'll make sure i get them back. that's my way...

,..i kinda agree with ioshee,..well,...i usually(that doesnt mean that i dont..) dont hit ppl on the ground, but as DJ said ,..its part of the game,..and i found fair to take that adventage that u created,...
also,...ping has nothing to do with saber lock,..trust me,..i have easly beat ppl lower that 80s ,..as also get my butt kicked by ppl higer than 190s,.....but what really is ping's related,..its ur movement,..u could say,..'..well,...then,..that means,..that i press my button slower that my opponent...',...thats wrong,...what really happens ,..is that u start a bit (depending on the ping,...a 300s is usually a almost half second delay...),..just a bit after u actually start clicking ur mouse like mad:P,..but the button secuence keeps going at the same frecuence,...now,....for kicks ,..thas a diferent story,...thats where the ping takes a serious part,..simply coz what i just said,....u move with a delay,...now,...when u want to kick,..on ur screen u see ur self kicking,..or going to,..but since thats not the 'real action'(coz of the delay...)if the ping diference is big(something like more than 100s i think),..ur gonna get kicked almost like 80percent of the times,...thats y i dont like kick fight,..or anythig with kicks:P
trust me,...i have tested all the ping stuff(its kinda obious ,.coz mine is round 280s-350s)by getting my self twice on a server (dont do it unless u have a prety good comp,..or u can get stuck..)and minimaze the both windows,...then i saw,..everything i did was with a 1/2second delay having that time around 300s...usually,..with a 100s-150s ur ping is really good,. 40s to 70s isnt much diference from a ,.lets say,..120s,..i mean,..u can play fair,...
well,...and 1 last thing,.....if ur on the ground,..just keep ur jump pressed and u should get up with a fast jump,...,that, has saved me from lots of RDFAs, hehe,....is that simple;)

for me it all depends on wether im dueling for fun or for a tourniment. cause if its for fun, go ahead knock me down n kill me all u like :P. but in a tournie i think it should only be from kicks cause its hard to do a good move from a kick.

Well I think it's just rude to hit someone when they're down but if you're sith I expect it. If you did a rdfa on me after you kick me I'd be quite proud of you because that does take some skill. Lunge is too easy so I think that's just rude to use after a win on saber lock. I don't really think it's like cheating it's just gaining with little to no challeng which is lame and not very honorable. So I like to see cool moves made like a rdfa after kick and others like it but don't just go the easy rout cause that's just dead boring.:)

Just my two cents....When someone is on the ground, i never attack, ever, unless i'm outnumbered like 5 to 1...Kicking is a great defensive move in a duel, and saber locks are cool too, but, if i get them on the ground....They cant defend themselves, and if im on the ground, i hate it when they kick me (Or i watch it happen to anyone else..), then RDFA me from 100/10 when they have about 40 hp left,...Especially when i show the courtesy of not attacking while you cant defend yourself.

Sure, it takes skill to kick someone down....A little :) How hard is it to kick someone down, then RDFA and win, in about 4 seconds...That wont improve you as much, in my humble opinion...

Well my thinking is, If u have bad ping then u will always lose saber locks so I kinda pay attention to that and don't attack if I win. If a person goes after me when i'm down then all bets are off and i'm doin the same. My personal opinion is, if someone tries to DFA me and they miss then I am gonna try to kick. It depends on the person and the mood i'm in also. There shouldn't be a problem hitting on the ground at any time simply b/c they put it in the game. If they didn't want it used then they wouldn't put it there. Geat poll! I was wondering about this myself, kudos to u Jedi_Venezuela

It is perfectly normal to hit someone when their own the ground from a kick or saber lock, because it was built into the game, and if you win the saber lock and they can't get up in time, then suffer the consequences same for kicking.

I don't really have a problem with it.
It depends who I am fighting.

Usually I just duel someone and if I knock tem down with a kick, I usually let them get back up again.
If someone knocks me down with a kick and tries to follow up with an attack, then I do the same when I knock them down.

Saber locks also depend on ping. Remember us with pings of 150-200 against 50-90 ping-ers have a disadvantage before we even try to win. Just some more stuff.

Because my ping is usually crap and hurts during saber locks, and I usually get own3d anyway...I'll hit ya any way I can get it.

yah ha DJ was waiting for someone to say that :) The whole purpose of winning a saberlock is so it leaves your opponent open for a free hit, so it is your RIGHT to take it, otherwise what was the point of the saberlock ?

About kicking, I exercise what is technically known as 'defensice kicking'. This involves manily sidekicks, most of which happen by accident. If my opponent happens to get knocked down, I will attack them. Front kicks are only used if:

1/ My opponent is only kicking, as theres not much you can do against a kicker whose only move is to kick you till you fall down then hit, then repeat.

2/ My opponent spams a special, or continuously does the same combo over and over, I'll then allow myself to try and kick DFA them, or kick em down and hit em a few times as sort of a second chance. If they carry on though, its all over :)

3/ If I know the person has strong views on kick and ground attcking in duels, I'll just do one to show them that not everyone conforms to their little world of rules :)

In short, its in the game, its meant to happen, if you can't counter it or defend against it, either agree with your opponent not to do these things, or the better option would be to learn.

Personally i think that since it's in the game it's a valid tactic. The whole point of getting knocked down from a gamning perspectinve is to leave you vulneragbe to attack. From the gamers perspective this would be a good time to strike.

Well, it depends, I don't mind kick and saberlock hits, but I will get a bit annoyed (without saying anything of course) if they kick all the time and run to you looking for an easy hit.

the aim of a duel is to win. if u win by attacking on the ground thens so what! they will only call u lame because they didnt win :) and also i dont attack after saberlock unless im below 30hp :) cos after 30hp ANYTHING GOES! :p

I feel that if kicking is going to be allowed then hitting someone when they are kicked is the same as hitting them after a saber lock. Both require skill. Kicking requires good timing and saber locks require fast finger speed. Both of these are skills in my eyes. I personally dont kick because I find it causes controversy such as this. I want to win my duels by dueling, not by kicking. Thank you. :P

Why do people think winning a saber lock requires no skill?

Being able to hit a button fast is all about skill baby:D

I think it's always "fair" but if someone I'm dueling has a problem with it, I won't do it.
