I figured this was probably the best place to announce this.
I'm heading out on a short vacation starting Thursday, going to visit an old friend in Atlanta. (And because of that I have "Devil Went Down to Georgia" stuck in my head.) For those that aren't intimately familiar with US geography, and no offense, I don't expect somone in London to know where Atlanta Georgia lies on a map, I'll be a couple thousand miles away from home, my computer, my JO disc, and sobriety. Well, it's G-day -17:15 at the moment. I'm packing the last of my things, and leaving notes for everyone that I'm on my way out.
I don't guess I'll be back in server untill maybe Sunday, If the PC there will run JO, I'm supposed to help Chosen One with something. Maybe I can stick around a little after that. Yeah, down south is exactly what needs to be said. Here in America, though the civil war is over, the North and South are clearly divided, not politically, but personally. I'm from Denver Colorado, a state capitol, an urban sprawl that from what I understand reflects downtown London nearly as well as Chicago or New York. Down south, a guy who dresses the way I do, and speaks the way I do is quite the event. They're like a separate culture, in some cases more reserved, in others outlandish.
Khalass, I'm sure you've noticed how easy it is to pick out somone from Knightsbridge as opposed to central London? That difference in accent gives us away here, too. Though it's not as often encountered, people, instead of tagging me as a Coloradin, would be more likely to ask where I'm from. I've even been around two so varied accents from the south that the people speaking could hardly understand each other. It's creepy. And I find I have to strain just to figure out what anyone said no matter where I am. Ahh, the great American south, beautirull land, strange people. For you southerners that are going to read this and likely get very upset. Well, right sorry, Sirs. Strange is good.
