I've recently started suffering from terminal lag in the JA servers (NL, Home and Classes). I've tried a public server to compare, and my ping's what it should be. The JA's servers are on completely different network connections. It's not something on our end. Run a traceroute to the IP's of the game servers and we'll see where the fault lies. _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

I've already said everything in my previous posts, but I'll start again. In the middle of Monty's kick classes several days ago, my ping suddenly went through the roof This was on the NL server, where my pings are usually just over 200. I was in mid-jump at the time and was paralysed there for several minutes. Anything I typed took about four seconds to appear, so I'd estimate that to be my ping. I tried reconnecting, it didn't fix it. I tried using a different ISP, it didn't fix it. I tried closing messenger and stopping the Messenger Service (in control panel/admin tools/services), it didn't fix it. I had no other programs running. I tried checking for spyware using Adaware, it found a bit but there were no running spyware processes, and when I removed what there was, it didn't fix it. I tried joining other JA servers, they all suffered from the same insane lag. I tried joining other, public internet servers. The ping on those was just fine, between 200 and 300 as normal depending on the server. I tried joining internet servers for other games, again the ping was just fine. This is not normal lag, it does not seem to be caused by hardware faults at my end of the phone line, since I would suffer lag in other servers if that were the case. Nor is it caused by an overall software/driver fault, for the same reason. I know my internet connection and it's never done this before. However, I think it's more likely that it's caused by some software specific to the JA servers, either on my PC or the servers'. I think the fact that this started in the middle of a game (rather than when I joined the server one day) might be important. To answer those questions: No rain or bad weather recently, Windows usually says I'm connected at 42.6kbps, and pings just over 200 on NL server and just under 400 on classes and home servers. The game is completely unplayable with this lag, so I'm just sitting waiting at the moment. _______________ Q: What do you call a man with bread and butter pudding on his head? There are a GREAT many reasons modem users can have lag in their games. What speed do you get connected at? What are your ping times to the servers? Has there been any rain and/or construction in your area recently? _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

That's about the same time as for me. I'm sure it's something about the JA servers rather than some fault in our PCs, since I don't get lag in other online games/other JK2 servers, and it doesn't change with different ISPs. When did it start happening to you? For me, I was in the middle of Monty's kicking class a few days ago when it just suddenly started. It must have something to do with the mods or scripts on the servers, or something. I'm not very knowledgeable on server matters. It's nothing to do with if I'm downloading things in the background or anything, I've checked for spyware, I've even diabled the Messenger service, to no effect. _______________ Q: What do you call a man with bread and butter pudding on his head? Happens to me too Ping on Every Ja Servers no matter how many ppl on it: 999 Ping on Most of Public Servers with average of 15 ppl on it : 200-300 _______________ Stop with the stupid sigs would you? Yea sure, why not, i'll stop asking myself things too... |

This problem doesn't come and go depending on any factors I've noticed, it's just always there, a colossal ping, either in the 800s or off the scale. I'm unable to move, and any chat takes several seconds to appear after I type it.
