And I have to say it's a doozy: http://content.guru3d.com/article.php?cat=gamereviews&id=49&pagenumber=1 I just think this whole SWG thing is hilarious. How someone can justify spending that much money on something that is clearly nowhere near done is ridiculous to me, but I guess there are those of you who find it fun. To each his (or her) own I guess, but I'm going to take the money I would've spent on SWG 6 months and buy 2 or 3 (probably) fully finished games. (note for SWG fans, if you're going to flame me for thinking what I think, I'd hold your breath if I were you. You guys say you aren't going to pay any money for it that's fine you don't have to. You don't need to buy every single star wars game out there. I think every single MMORPG out there requires you to pay a monthly fee, and its not just a single dollar a month. Also the guy didn't say it was the worst release ever, he said it was the worst launch ever. I consider launch to be the start up of the game and it seems to have started up quite well because of the number of games its sold. I also don't think that there is a MMORPG that you could ever call finished. There's almost always going to be one more little bug that you can improve on or a new expansion pack that you can release, or simply a patch to include a new story element into the growing world. The box even says "Game Experience May Change During Online Play." There is absolutely no way I'm paying a membership fee to play a game unless the membership fee is one USD per month or less. I totally agree with the point about the players fronting the money for the developers to finish the game. Outrageous on the part of the development team, and truly, truly pathetic on the part of the sorry sods who put up the money. I've been writing software for years, and it's supposed to be the investors who front the money. Then they get their money back as people pay for the software _after_ it's finished. Duh. Here's on little gem from the review, though: "You can choose from different 8 races including, but not limited to, humans, wookies, and Trandoshan's [sic]." Problems with basic grade-school grammar on the part of someone who writes for a living tarnish the credibility of the writer in my eyes, even when I agree with most of what he says, as I do in this case. [Edit: one other thing] Buzz's link to the LucasArts press release does not refute the point about this being the worst MMO release ever. It says it's the most "successful" and seems to describe that success purely in terms of how many people shelled out money for the game--in other words for how many suckers fronted money to finish it. It even says, though not in so many words, that the game isn't even finished. Hehe yeah I've done a few delivery missions. My character is too much of a wimp right now for any real search and destroy missions. Why do certain groups of people out in the wilderness just attack you? I thought I was neutral and I look like a nice guy. It's usually the red dots on the radar (which I thought meant that they are stronger than you.) That's probably the only real frustrating part of the game for me. A LOT of stuff is color coded and I can't tell colors apart real well. But I get by ok. This is a very fun drug... er I mean game. _______________ One of the Belouve boys |

Ok I bought it. It's awesome. I haven't seem any bugs yet. Except for a group of NPCs stuck in a corner. I just pretended they were supposed to do that. The only thing that I don't like about the game is that it's SOOOO huge I feel lost. Not geographically but lost on what I want to do next. There are just too many options for someone like me who wants to do everything. So I've spent most of my time trying to go somewhere but then getting distracted and going somewhere else. Overall it is one of the best games I have ever played. But I like huge places to explore. _______________ One of the Belouve boys |

its like this,you can set it different keymap styles,first person shooter mode,EQ style,SWG style wich is arrow keys to run mouse to move view or on mouse second click runs,and all letters are chatting, its a very goodworks perfect for the game lol i wouldnt _______________ Free Tibet! Cool! Thanks Japanese friend. One more question about movement: Do the left and right arrows rotate your character or sidestep/strafe. If I understood you right then the mouse would take care of rotating your character and the arrow keys are for strafing. Thanks. And Vodo, I was just teasing you. You use the mouse to look and the arrow keys to move. Hold shift to walk. WSAD are used for typing along with the rest of the keys. Hold control and press certain keys for shortcut menus. Can anyone who knows tell me how you control your character in third person? Is it point and click, wasd like jkII or wasd like Anarchy Online? How you control your character is one of the biggest factors in a game for me personally. If it doesn't feel intuitive (as in Anarchy Online) it just doesn't grab me. Thx doobie for pointing this review out. I agree with the writer that letting the public pay for something that is as buggy as HELL is sickening. It is understandable that some features aren't ready and that they are holding back at some things. But if I read this review correctly, the bugs and huge errors in it are too bad to let the game go gold. I have to say maybe it wasn't what alot of you where expecting. Yes there is still work to be done, but remember this...it is an online game and is ever growing. It just came out so give it a few months...maybe close to december and you will see significant changes. I got SWG and I must say. It could have a few things done differently, but it is a good game none the less. $15 dollors a month to play?. I never trust reviews. I only trust my OWN reviews. I agree with you all. He must have played it for an hour and he must have NEVER played an online game before. The game isn't complete, it will never be complete, they haven't had time to make patches, and JUST GROW UP! He needs to just stop complaining about the game. Yes, I do see places where the game needs to be improved, but I wait for the patch to be released. I don't start going around insulting the game for what it currently is. What it currently is, is STAR WARS. Once again, I agree with...whoever said this. lol. It's the game of Life: Star Wars edition. If it has bugs, get over it.
