Ok , I think George has done fantastic with teh 1st 3 films ,and allowing the expanded universe to grow. However, now I think it might be the time for him to step aside. Eps 1 & 2 could have been soooo much better if snippets of the Expanded Universe had been hinted at. His seeming disdain of the Expanded universe (eg if I want to make Han Solo impotent in Ep 3 to screw up the EU , i will) is holding it all back.
I say he should step aside and let his baby grow up , properly. |

I agree with you completey Plo, they are all great movies and they are HIS. you are WRONG. i am a humungous SW fan and i go take a leak before the movie so i dont miss a second of it-i drink and eat nothing so i dont have to go during it... i have never wanted a SW movie because of the game tied to it-i think george lucas has done a marvelous job at some of the greatest movies of all TIME. I've read all but a few books and felt that half of them we're crappy and had weak stupid plots. *cough* Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter, Rogue Planet, Truce at Bakura, Children of the Jedi, Darksaber, Planet of Twilight, Junior & Young Jedi Knights series, The Black Fleet Crisis Trilogy, The Corellian Trilogy, Shadows of the Empire , The Han Solo Trilogy, The Adventures of Lando Calrissian,, The Han Solo Adventures *cough* Sorry if I started a flame fest but those plots suck. The rest were okay though. If you want to be filled in and not go through all the crap just read Star Wars : The Essential Chronology by Kevin J. Anderson and Daniel Wallace. I don;t think he alters the movie couse the fans have some expectations of it. he works on his own expectations. And if he is smart, he will put a LOT of his time making a good story. I like reading the stories about how it may be, but i still just wait for the movie and see what happens. And you like star wars or you do not. just like that. And if I see ep 1 and 2, there is a lot of improvement in ep 2..so I think ep 3 still will be very good... And i think you cannot underestimate the power of a good story. Umm I hate to point this out but he is stepping aside. After EP 3 that's it fin, finito, done AKA no more SW movies. I'm not quite so sure he has ignored the EU out of spite. If he were to include every little piece of the EU that was tied in the movies would be 4 or more hours long. I'm not saying that would bve a bad thing but remember how much people were complaining about LOTR being too long to sit in a theater for? As much as I'd like to think these movies are made just for us fans, Lucas also has to think on a global scale as far as viewer appeal goes. Now as far as the quality of the recent movies goes, I hate to say it but, you can't to have the same feeling every time you see a new movie in a series. You grow older and always ajust your views of your world. If I may make a suggestion: try to go see EP 3 with no expectations and you probably won't be disappointed. With all we have built up these stories to be in our minds, Lucas would have to make 50 different versions of the movies just to satisfy all the fans. Expect nothing and, most of the time, you will be pleasantly surprised and if you are not you have missed nothing. |

Sup, Lucas is basically a guy who came up with a really reall really cool raw idea, the overall story / timeline, etc. But If you look at the directors/writers for EP 4-6: EP4: Director: Lucas Writing Credits: Lucas Is this anyone favorite episode, no one that I know, but he was really young and he did a pretty damn good job. Ep5 Director: Irvin Kershner Writing Credits: Lucas, Leigh Brackett, and Lawrence Kasdan. So lucas steps down as director, and has some ppl to help refine his raw idea, the output, my favorite episode (not that means shit) and a great movie, arguably one of the best Sci-Fi ever. Ep6: Director: Richard Marquand Writing Credits: Lucas and Lawrence Kasdan Again Luas doesnt direct, and has some help writing. From this I think its pretty obvious to show that when Lucas has help "they" can do great things. For Ep1 and Ep2, he directed and only had some help with the screen play for Ep2, I think Ep2 is better than Ep1, but both are still lacking. _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude.
