In the, now, uber old oldbie days, Emperor Lightning was the first AND only JAK there was. Now, however, there are one *too* many of them. And I don't need to join the servers to know they're abusing their power. Hmm, but I was gone for a long time to even know if they still HAVE a power. (Admin power.) Now stating inappropriate behavior and disguisting comments on IRC. Hey, I know the majority of you should be over 15 years old, or 16, or 17, but still. What about the people under 17, or 16, or 15? You ARE tweaking them, just like you're tweaking my poor little sister. You made her crazy and she was sent to juvenile hall, and eventually, solitary confinement when I was away on my honeymoon. Hmm.... just kidding... hmm..... Anyway, you are tweaking the minds of young Jedi in Training, like Darth Jell-O. In one chatting session (I know this was for the JA RPG but still) he said to me, "pull down your pants," then, "show me your tits." I don't know if that's from his elementary school a couple of years ago (since he's 14 now) that taught him to say that kind of stuff (like my little sister's elementary school) or he was taught to say that on IRC. Don't know. And by the way, victims to mine and Jell-O's talk, we aren't really neighbors. Made you believe us. Okay, I'm going to go away from you now. Waaaaaay over here. Anyway, they are still young. They're good children. For now. No matter how inappropriate they are now, they're young still, and they're still growing. Who knows how they're going to act when they're 17? Or 18? 19? 20? Yeah, I don't like to drag this thing on, but I just can't help myself at the moment. I guess I should say, you should have read my post a little bit more. I said *I* only had to *use* the admin powers twice. Not *others* have *abused* the admin powers twice (though I only remember two people being demoted from knight for abuse of their admin access). Plus, from the way you worded your post, you made it sound like EVERY JAK abuses his power. I might not know what happened before I came here, or when I wasn't around for awhile, but I rarely see any admin powers being used (unless it's teleporting someone to the JAT room). So please, just because others have abused this power in the past, doesn't mean that everyone is going to abuse it. Yes, when you give people power it can go to their heads (even in a game). That's because we're human, we make mistakes. Though, not EVERYONE becomes a megalomanic when you give the a little bit of power. Let me add my 2 cents here, although no-one may want to hear it. My post will emphasise the word "Fun", because after all, that's what "gaming" is all about. It also plays a large part in a community such as this. You take away the fun, what have you got? Boredom? People have their own ideas on what they would call "fun", some like to play the game properly, Ie, Duelling, Provoked attacking etc. Others like to emmerse themselvs in a different reality, Ie, RPGing. etc. Now, alot of peoples ideas of "fun" would involve making jokes with one another, insulting eachother with no real intended malice because as a community, we feel that we know eachother enough to make these remarks and laugh at them together. But no matter what kind of person you are, there will be the odd occasion where remarks and/or actions (Ie, so called "laming" will offend you. Why? Because you are Human and that's how we behave.Inapropriate remarks fall into this catagory and are usually what offends people the most. I myself cannot really comment on how it offends because I am not female (to the best of my knwledge ) so I never have to deal with this sort of "offense".Most of us do know where the line is drawn, but then again no one knows for sure how a particular person will react to the same comment. For example, something you say may not offend Chicka, but will offend Lian, or Smily etc. In my own opinion, the best way to avoid these sorts of "misunderstandings" or "offendings" is to just not make 'crude' comments. Some people have that kind of sense of humour, do not mean any offense by it and fail to see how others get offended by it. This again is Human Nature. Probably the best way to deal with it is to not make such remarks to Academy members that yo do not know very well yet. Or, if you are the offended, tell the offender that his/her remarks are making you feel uncomfortable and to please stop. Here's where the rules come in you see. If the offending person refuses to stop or just keeps making these remarks/actions, then action will be taken to bring the respective person to justice. This brings me to the point about "too many JAKs". I too have seen alot of people promoted to JAK recently, but NONE of those people did I feel uncomfortable about. I was happy to see the promotees (is that a word? LOL) get their respective positions because I knew they could fill them with what the Academy needs. And at present, it's rule enforcement, which would hopefully nullify the aforementioned problems. I myself have gotten into a slight misunderstanding with Lian in the past. I do not hold a grudge, nor do I dislike her in the slightest. It was just something that happened on "one of those days", it didn't involve any profanity, or crude remarks on either part. Which is why I do not dislike her. Although we had a falling out, she did not call me any names, nor did she make a point of making remarks or laming me. I guess you could call it a "Civil Disagreement". I am not sure if Lian feels the same way I do on this matter, for all I know, she could hate me with a passion you could only dream of. But as stated before, we are all only Human and look at certain things in different ways. In my opinion, one of the Academies best rules should be remembered by everyone here to stop situations mentioned in Lian's initial thread, and some of the replies posted here, and that Rule is thus: "Don't do stupid stuff." It may not be the most authentic sounding rule, but it holds the best idea than any of the other stated rules I think. Hehe. I would just like to add, if you ever see any admins "abuse" me, it's only for fun, as it is when they "abuse" most people. The fact is, I often see people who wants to get slapped (I don't ask for it, '/bind m amslap jacen' is just part of the JAT script ). If you see someone getting abused, try to find out WHY they're getting abused. For all you know they could be fooling around. PS: Again, congrats. I have been on the servers pretty much everyday lately and with all the new JAK's and I must say I have not witnessed an abuse of power. All that I have witnessed was used in accordance with the rules for the betterment of the JA, if u want examples, please ask me cause I will be glad to fill u in. Hey Lian. Welcome back. Congratulations and I hope your honeymoon went well. Why are there so many JAK's? We (the JATs and JACs) were sitting about one day discussing the state of things. We saw much laming going about and decided that there should be more Knights to handle it. We hope that we're choosing right in terms of who gets to be knight. You've been through a knight trial, so you know these guys are no slouch at the game. Look at it this way. We have abut 15 Knights for about ~200 or so active students. That seems a fair ratio to me. I'm sorry you think it's too high, but we feel its necessary to keep the peace around here. Bad mojo on IRC? I agree. While I understand IRC isn't the most wholesome place to be on the Internet I think we can do a better job of trying to keep it clean. We do have impressionable kids around here (some as young as 8). We'll work on that one. Well seems that have a little comotion going in the posting forum.As for the JAK thing having so many is great whenever im on they usually respectfull and responsible sure they can g00f around a little bit but doesnt everyone g00f around in the "JA" i do everytime on the servers and if they go to far just ask to stop im sure they'll all understand.IF the council and trainers choose those certain people for Knight Trials and pass them im sure they trust them. I for one have never seen a JAK,JAT,JAC go to far. As for being immature and teaching bad thing to kids.Its the 21 century there gonna learn in anyway,then can access almost anything on the internet,TV. Sure we joke around with saying "Show Me your boobies" but its a joke right? Not as though they have a gun to your head forcing you to do it? And for someone that probaly is one of the biigest g00f's in the academy you such as "RAPE!!!","LIES!!!". Youve said TONS of things that could of affected them.You also make it seem that everyone is doing this.Barely anyone on the servers do it or do it for a joke.If we coudnt joke around im sure the academy woudnt be as great as it is today. I think you just close this topic for it just will get people aggravated and pissed at you. Sorry if im being rude BUT we do have diffrent minds right? People are people and you can't stop that. However, the abuse of actual ampowers themselves I see -very- little, and considering you've just returned I hardly see you to be in a position to criticize. Though I am fully aware that these posts are nothing more than an attempt to get you attention for your return (feel free to deny it ), that doesn't mean I'll let what you say go unresponded to.I have had my trials and tribulations with the ranked members as well, but that doesn't mean they're all bad. In fact, I'm hard-pressed to think of any who haven't been redeemed in my eyes. Moreover, considering the amount of time I spend on the servers (which is rather significant as of late) compared to the amount of ranked members I see there, I do believe it is fair to say there are NOT too many JAKs or JATs. Once again, I bring attention to your absence from the servers, thus being unable to comment properly on that. Additionally, as I believe was mentioned previous, you were not long ago whining about the LACK of people with /ampowers. Though it may sound like I was just shouting it to shout it, I only shouted "rape" every time somebody was talking about doing something innappropriate with me (and that's quite a lot.) Not that I'm putting the full blame on him or anything, I shouted Lies!! because it was addicting, and almost all the times I shouted it was when Faded Angel was around at the time. As far as JAKs go... You've got to be kidding me. The admin abuse for JAKs have happened a LOT more than two, and you don't know that happened (even though your ID is in the 1000's.) Wow, I can't believe you posted this. I thought I was in my own little world over here. Well, I don't know what happens on IRC (since I rarely use it), but the JAKs are not these "evil demons out to seal the souls of little children and corrupt the minds of kids everywhere" like you seem to think. Last I remember, it was you who was spamming "Lies!" all over the server, so you're not exactly in a place to tell us what to do. It's a little thing called hypocrisy, look it up if you need to. As for admin abuse, I've only had to use it about twice. Any other time it's always on myself (and it's only protect or sleep). I may only be 16, but I can guarantee that I'm more mature than most people. So, maybe you should rethink your theory on the "inappropriate behavior", by reflecting on your own. I am really sorry if that sounds rude, but a point had to be made, and I don't like getting accused of things by someone who doesn't even know me. Lian, since no one has made a response, I'll go ahead and offer some unbiased commentary. Edit: I'm not the first? Damn. About being inappropriate: I can't say that I'm 100% wholesome all the time. I don't think anyone is on IRC. Thats the facts of life. However, if someone is doing it more than others, it is noticed. Acey got kicked last night for being lewd around Helen. Still, about the "show me your b00bies" or whatever, that is out of line. About there being too many JAKs...possibly. But if you haven't noticed from the JAK trial process there arent always going to be JATs around to keep order on the servers. So how do you deal with lamers and people like that without any admins? If you have a solution, please offer it up. I seem to recall right b4 your absence, someone lamed you with no-one around and you flipped sh**. I believe the situation would have been different with a JAK around. They still DO have admin powers, and this current batch (including me) knows how to use them. That is all. Wait no it's not.
