| How do you discuss opposing views? | |

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys do in an discussion of opposing views? I usually go 'point-counterpoint,' waiting for one person to say something and slip up before attacking them at their weak spot. I also try to keep what I'm saying really vague and make note of potential quotable materials but not quote them unless absolutely necessary; that way, when the person attempts to defend themself from my vague accusations, they often make a mistake and open themself up even more. Arguments aren't really worth it. It's a waste of energy and a cause of unlimited frustration. There's no reason to argue when a perfectly well placed knife-in-the-ribs could easily suffice. It ends further argument and it gets your POINT across  hehehe puns... now there's a way to start an argument. well, my point of view: fight: hand to hand, karate, judo, martial arts, casulties and wounded argueing: "you didnt tidy up your room. i've TOLD you to tidy up your room. - Mom, stfu! - Dont talk to me like that! you know that..." discusing: "See, my point is that we dont need this thread cuz it's just ridiclous. - well, but i like it. Well, I think you're thinking about 'fighting' Aeth.. arguing is more like a discussion with two people of completely opposite opinion, trying to disprove, discredit, or change the mind of the other. At least, that's arguing in my opinion. A fight is when two people put on their dunce caps and yell pointlessly about nothing with no direction and no goal. _______________ © |

Looks like you enjoy argueing I rarely argue, most things canbe settled calmy if you stay reasonable. I'm not the guy to scream around and throw with dishes. In fact there are so many guy who only blabber around and dont have a point. Getting confused of too complex sentence structures etc. I usually (at least try) to stay cool and have a clear point.
