I didn't want to be a stealer, that's why I didn't just quote the Holocron, but Aeth's right. |

ehrem, may i quote our wonderfull holocron? "Jedi Academy Council (JAC) – The council is the head of the academy. It decides about important issues like the future of the academy and has the last word in settling conflicts etc. Besides Doobie and DJ there are some other council members who got promoted due to their extraordinary dedication towards the JA and for their constant good work. Council members should be treated highly respectful, as they keep sure this place exists at all. Jedi Academy Staff (JAStaff) - The staff members all do a specific work for the academy, like for example build the official map, post news etc. However, they don’t have any access to admin commands nor are they “higher” than other students in any way. The rank solely exists for honoring them and pointing their work out. Jedi Academy Master (JAT) - These are teachers who are constantly doing a good work and get this rank as a form of recognition. Masters are somewhat like the old school and definitely the right person to address to if you either want to learn advanced moves or have an important issue to discuss. Jedi Academy Teacher (JAT) - Teachers are the heart of the academy. They keep running classes on weekly basis and have full access to admin commands to keep order on servers. These are the right guys to ask if you have a serious problem or want to learn some extra stuff. Notice however that they’re only human and have to care about many other things. Be patient with them, and respect them for their hard work for the academy. Jedi Academy Knight (JAK) - Knights are the bridge between the upper management and the students, so if you feel ignored from the big boys, go to the JAKs and they will support you. These are the students’ best friends. Treat them that way. They are meant to assist the teachers on giving classes, keeping order on servers and generally helping students out. Knights are not chosen for “l33t” skills (although they should be good fighters of course) but for their attitude. Also, they have limited access to admin commands, so they can keep order at the servers as well. If you’re having trouble or want to learn some basic stuff, knights are the first place to go to. Jedi Academy Padawan (JAP) - Knights and above can take on padawans. This is to encourage private training and to help students improving. You can ask for becoming a padawan in the general discussion of the forum or directly address to a JAK/JAT. Notice however those guys are generally pretty busy and they cannot take everybody. Jedi Academy Student (JAS) - This is the basic rank. Everyone starts here and most people will stay there forever. Students have access to the forum; they may enroll to a class and ask for becoming a padawan. Although it is considered the “lowest” rank, be proud of being it! Without you, the academy had no point at all, and you keep this place alive. The management digs the riverbed, the students are the water." _______________ Aeth S'kray *June 2002 +September 2003 |

All right, I'm gonna try and answer this as I understand it, but I might misunderstand, so please correct me if I'm wrong. JAS - No need to explain that. JAP - The best way to become someones padawan is by hanging out with the person, ranked or student. Get to know him, become friend with him, and if you're lucky he might just have an open slot for a paddy. If he don't have the time/space/whatever to take you on, no need to worry. You don't need a master, but they can be good if you want to get that training the classes just can't offer. JAK - I'm not gonna write the definition of this rank, but the best way to get JAK is this; be yourself. Don't pretend to be someone you're not, believe me, they'll see the sharade, be helpful to others, keep on training so your skills improve, respect EVERYONE, and other than that, keep with the rules and just be cool. JAT - After you've achieved JAK, which pretty much gives you the basic qualities for a JAT, you're aiming for JAT. The way I see it, the best way would be this; in addition to all the stuff needed for JAK, there's skills. They're more important to a JAT than a JAK. You must also have some talent for teaching. You must be responsible, mature, flexible, and have patience. If the guy need you to stand there watching and guiding him for 10 mins, you must have the patience to do it. And of course you must have been in the JA for some time before you can get JAT. This is just how I see it, don't flame me if you think otherwise, please. |

Mune! Be careful of what you say! Our forum is one thing, but this is out in the JA public. Oh wait. Our forum is in public too. Nevermind... Aeth- Well...we're working on the FAQ thing...it'll get better...as you are well aware. All you guys- many of your questions will be answered once the Holocron is released. It - among other things - actually addresses these very issues. If someone provides server space, it should be up by the end of the week. -rh _______________ Back from the dead... |

Tut tut, boy. I'm Mune, the Barkeep of this fine establishment. Come on down to our IRC channel sometime if you need to relax, have a drink and meet some people. If you have a question, ask on IRC, or simply make a thread. Remember, a saber is your friend, unless it's in an un-mentionable.... area. Well, I guess we'll see you on the servers or the forums. Welcome to The Jedi Academy! Have a time, make a friend or forty-six (46), and learn something. Until next time, -Mune _______________ Captain Barkeep. |

Jacen is right, but skill does help |
Jacen Aratan - Student |
First of all: JAK is not a rank you just get. Basically you have to help others, not be too selfish, be somewhat skilled (but this is NOT the most important field for a JAK, so no, 1337 players can't just go out and become a JAK ), help the JAT/JAC's and perhaps most important, respect everyone. They keep the peace on the servers, assist the JAT's in class and help students. It also takes some time before you can become a JAK, the JAT's have to nominate you and they will only do that if they think you could be a good JAK, and it takes some time for them to get to know you and evaluate you. You have to get 1 nomination to take the written test and you must have 3 nominations all in all to take the trial (which is tough... have I heard). Hope that helped. PS: Yes, I'm a lazy bastard. |
Rei D'Kana - Ex-Student |
well joining is just to fill out an application that you wish to join so thats easy. but becoming a knight or a trainer, Thats the hard part. I am not exactly sure how you get it but I heard people say that you have to be selected by people to become one, then you get a trial and if you pass that you will be knight (I think) |
