ok let my lay it down for you guys and girls.
1. THE cOLOUR DEPENDS ON THE CRYSTAL
2. A Purple crystal isnt the same as a blue and a green isnt the same as a orange or vice versa. this isnt just in terms of colour either, they can be different size and shape
3.red sabers are crystals that have been manipulated and not natural.

whoever said that different colour crystals can have different effects that is 100% true. I dont know the exact properties but it might be something like this but with different colours.....a purple crystal is bigger than a green making the blade thicker and heavier and the greens kinnier and lighter. that is an example and isnt true but there are properties like that

I still think you're wrong. The color shouldn't affect how maneuverable or powerful the saber is. It just doesn't make sense to me.

the red sabers are slightly more powerful, but not to a point where u would notice it. blue is more manuverable.(not sure how that would be....) i have my little ep2 book here that says so 4 any1 who thinks im wrong;)

gah, the colours have nothing to do with rank. you make a saber, you keep it untill it gets broken, make a new one
the colour you have is the one you get

Yellow = has deep-seated sexual frustration from being raised in the dysfunctional Jedi Order

Green = sometimes sneaks out behind the Jedi Temple to smoke dope

ok... the basic 'rainbow colours' as i call them are this. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple/violet. Now, out of them, this is the side distinction.

Red = Dark
Orange = Dark or Light
Yellow = Dark or Light
Green = light
blue = light
purple = light

there are other colours in the eu, but thats because of the crystals used... supposedly.

The deep red of the sith red is because of the synthetic crystals they have. About the sand and green, all the jedi with blue and green sabers faught in the sand arena in geanosis, so i dont think that makes a difference. Purple in the movies, Samuel L JAckson likes purple, so he asked George to give it to him.
What else... I dont know. Anything just think hard.
Remember, if it couldnt of happened, it didnt

It could not mean rank because Yoda has green the same as Qui Gon Jinn.
It could not be Form either because Anakin uses Form IV and Obi Won uses Form III

All sabers are the same, just different colors, you can be a true believer and have red for the dark side, and green and blue for the lightside, or have a saber that goes best with your skin, tis all up to you.

lol, it's just what color u like best :)
I did hear something about those crystals, and something about it would be implemented in kotor.
It's like the different crystals make the saber have specific characteristics or something and those same crystals make the saber turn into a specific color.
Im not sure about the whole story though :)

Actually Qui Gon had a green saber and was killed. The original intent was for all sabers to be white. Lucas added blue into the color for Jedi and red as the color of the sith. So originally there was only blue and red. Then along comes ROTJ which has Luke fighting out in the desert with his Lightsaber. The blue saber did not look good when filming, something to do with the colors of the sky and sand I think. Green stood out much better. You notice how Qui Gon has a green saber and he fights on Tattooine just like Luke did. So now you have green and blue sabers for the Jedi. Purple was given to Mace Windu for some reason. I'm sure there is some new idea for the color meanings for each Jedi. Perhaps something with the Form they use.

Now when you get into the expanded universe color means nothing. The idea here is that the color of the jewels you use will determine the color of your blade.

The way i see it is that basicly every1 w/ a blue saber had gotten killed but every 1 w/ a green saber was of higher leval so it could sho rank

Well the Star Wars meaning is that with natural crystals in the lightsabers, a Jedi can obtain the colors green, blue, purple, yellow, orange. Red can only be achieved by using synthetic crystals, which Sith use. They reach out to them with the force while they're made, modyfying them. That is why Maul's saber had that harsh and dangerous sound.

It's basically just preference. Red is my favorite color, so I use it. I'm fine with most of the saber colors too, although I think green looks somewhat like a giant lime popsicle (eeewww). I do happen to be an Uber-Sith though ;)
