Write it in word 1st w/o any formatting if it'll help you w/ a spell check and all, but it really can screw up character encodings and all. ditto for wordpad. Dont worry about embedding images. I have seen hell, and it is text formatting for holocron insertion. Next time don't use Word. Please. PLEASE. P L E A S E. I have section 1 converted.. mostly.. I need to get a handle on some of the authors. Most of it still shows me as the author. About the timezones How about a special section in which you explain what countries belong to what timezone and even better include Daylight Savings time and the other one (can't rememeber the english name) That would be a great help to some people *We shall call no names* Right? Khalek- Point of information: the BB/BS idea _is_ indeed a separate issue from the Holocron, and is being coordinated now by Mune. He'd be more than happey to get the help you offer. btw, the idea, as you said, _does_ fall in line of why I pushed the Holocron to begin with. But, it is too big of a project (and different) from the Holocron, so it is separate. Hope that helps you understand a little bit better. Those editorial issues RE the IRC chapter...excellent. Needed someone to go through it with a fine tooth comb. Talk to MoS about working more closely with him to clean things up for when it gets officially plastered up on the JA web site. AsoAron was the one who wrote that IRC chapter, so you may want to thank him personally for putting it together... Peace. -rh _______________ Back from the dead... BTW - I've just used your IRC guide (never used it before... ) and it's excellent.I would point out that I think your link points to a different version to your guide (if only from the pics). Under 'Connect' your pic has Options - Perform - Local Info - Identd - Firewall, whereas mine has Servers then Options, and no Perform. The differences seem cosmetic only (have to go to a different subtab on using it the first time to do the top and bottom parts of the first pic), but may be enough to deter a new user. I'm made of sterner stuff (but still found that the guide enabled me to use something that would otherwise be unusable for me). Thank you all.Also the choice of Quakenet and then the local server is in the same dropdown menu. They've simplified it slightly. No need for the initial 'Join' command for the channel, I think. It is forced upon you when you first connect to quakenet. The guide doesn't really state which is the 'Status Window.' It may seem obvious, and I think I will find it in the manual (RTFM, LOL) but it'd be a quick sentence that'd stop some questions... [edit: I've found it...simple really, being the first window, but it'd be something you might not think of LOL /edit] I don't think that the " /MSG Q HELLO Youremailaddress Youremailaddress " command is the same (may just be me, and yes, I did put my email address in instead )One site issue (maybe..not sure if it is deliberate or not... ) is that if you click on a picture you go to anothr site that shows the same guide in a different template. If this is a newer (or older) version of the holocron, people may use this to determine the location of it before you want them to...I've been usiing shift+F5 to fully refresh the page if I've found a problem, to make sure it's not a cached version. Therefore these points are all correct as of now (he says just before they do a massive update, LOL). I've also realised that I use parentheses waaaaaay too much (like this). Seeya. I'm glad it was useful...I'm gonna keep posting my random *mumbles* here, if only to keep bumping this thread (but I'l try to say something useful) because this project is a real lifesaver already, even if hard to find . So here we go You probably want to avoid people asking what it takes to become a JAK (the most common of the ranking questions that I've seen, and one I'm guilty of myself  ), and while this will be somewhat mitigated by the .cfgs in the excellent new JA mod (huzzah to Chosen ) it may help if you put a quick note saying that you won't even consider someone unless they've been around for X months. (This may or may not be true, but you can always contact the exceptions yourself, ). I know that this goes against the idea of the Holocron a little, but I think it'd be a white lie that'd give you some thinking room.I'm assuming that there will be a link for the holocron on the front JA page, so would it be worthwhile to have an annotated .jpg showing where to go on each page, in case people are REALLY stuck? I'm not sure if there is such a call for this, but maybe if only for the Servers page? On the subject of people being really stuck, would it be possible for a link to send an email to a random member that signs up for an onsite version of the BB/Ba scheme? This way if you had an emergency contact mail address on the front page of the JA (perhaps not up to you...) then one person wouldn't be inundated with mail... I realise (or perhaps assume) that the aim of the Holocron project is to inform and influence, not indicate potential rule changes or suggest that 'X is better than Y' *cough* red stance pwns *cough*. It seems like it is for that reason that you have pointed out that the BB/BS scheme is outside of your purview (and fair enough...you've only got so much time on your hands). So with this in mind, I don't mind volunteering to help out with the co-ordination of that scheme, unless there is someone better qualified for it. Bear in mind that my .html and other webstuff skills are limited to basic dreamweaver. Oh yeah, and if you decide to make an intro video, I can edit it together with some tunes and FX if you like, as long as it's in a movie format (not necessarily .avi or .mpeg) and not in the demo file format. I've got some webspace (30mb, not a lot but a little is nice ) that I can share, if necessary. I think you've asked the JATs for this, but it would be useful for the Holocron to show the various JATs specialisations. Especially so for the Big Brother/Big Sister/Welcome Mat program. Knowing who to refer somone on to would be very useful, but only for when the BB/BS/WM didn't know the answer. This is really to questions that not every JAT would be up on if it's outside their area of focus. (Like NFF pointing out to me that if I wanted Blue/Yellow instruction that I was in the wrong place ). If I wanted to know the best way to counter a YDFA in Heavy, I doubt I'd be asking Luke, for example. He could probably help, as could all of the JATs, but he ain't the expert in THAT field.
