Yellow or Red? | |

I was wondering lately, if 2 guys with the exact same skill, but one has that skill in yellow style and the other one in red style, would fight eachother.. who would win? In other words is red style or yellow style the better one? What do you think and maybe even why?? _______________ ~~ Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none! ~~ |

In an equal skill environment, id say yellow. Altho I absolutely detest yellow, its a pain in da butt for a red stancer. Guess I should get some more practice with yellow. |

Not at all Masta, Im quite good at dying ^^ As a response to Ian, anyone can be beaten, so even the REALLY hard red users can be beaten by my yellow. It just takes like 100 tries sometimes Anyways, it works the other way around too; theres not a redder (or any stance-user for that matter) that doesnt stand a fair chance against me; anyone can kill me. Furthermore, it all depends on which person is more effective in a particular duel. That will variate from duel to duel (think of making a lot of mistakes, or hardly any at all). Every time I step into a duel, its a new challenge for me to stay alive, or maybe finally beat a redder I cant seem to counter. _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. Heh, hers another counter-argument for my theory: Red isnt yellow, they may make the same AMOUNT of mistakes, that doesnt mean those mistakes are the same A mistake with Red stance may take longer 2 correct, for example. ^^ In that sense Red Stance and Yellow Stance are equel EDIT: reading this back, I think Ive just said about the same as Sol did b4 LOL! _______________ The name is Bond. thats true, but if you make a mistake, a yellow user is faster and is more likely to hit you in the gap you leave. i.e. a yellow user is more likely to punish you for your mistakes. unless the red user is goooood _______________ Joined 16 October 2004 | Retired 10 April 2005 | Returned 05 June 2008 | Made Staff 27 June 2008 | Made Council 18 January 2009 Padawan To Odan-Wei Belouve | Adopted into the Belouve family | Twin to xAnAtOs | Owner of the 4th Quesi sexy badge Brother To Roan Belouve, Nomad, Majno, Silkmonkey, Kensei and Jarhok Belouve Owner Of Virtue's 1000th profile comment, Mr. Doobie's 1000th profile comment, Gradius' 2500th comment, xAnAtOs' 2500th comment, Rosered's 1500th comment, Laziana's 900th comment, Scythus' 500th comment and Echuu's 100th comment |

Lol, here's another crazy thought of mine: It takes a red stancer less hits 2 kill his opponent than a yellowstancer. Now, 2 people of the same skill, make the same amount of mistakes. They also take advantage from those mistakes at the same amount. So red wins. Lol, Im afraid that's an ok theory... in theory Im not sure wether it worx that way in real duels _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. |

if a clone of one guy fights the original, I'd go with yellow. But that's only because yellow knows what's going to happen next. If two different people with the same skill fought, I'd go with red. saber-clash-countering or parrying is the best bet to hit a red stancer. finding open gaps in an experienced players moves is very very hard, and hardly possible. therefore, RED. _______________ One of the Belouve boys, founder of the mighty FiZZsters Midbie council #20 - Fizz - #1933 - Jan '03 - Aug '04 "Renfield, you idiot!" |

Hmmm... funny, the very same question crossed my mind lately. My vote goes to yellow though, for the following reason: A yellowstancer can attack a redstancer and get away fast enough, before he can be countered... I think However, a Red stancer may always find himself beeing countered, because he has open gaps... Maybe Im over-simplifying things here, but I think the main question is: Can a red stancer perfectly close his gaps? In my humbla opinion, and little experience, I think he's not... so a yellowstancer always has an opoortunity to get a hit in at a redstancer's gaps. In actual duels, though, it's very hard to beat a brilliant Redstancer with yellow and it's also very hard to beat a brilliant yellowstancer with red. Both arent perfect, both players make mistakes, so the chances are about equal I'd say. In theory however, I believe the yellowstancer may just come out as the victor. _______________ The name is Bond. James Bond. This comment was edited by Dash Starlight on Dec 31 2004 09:41pm. |

Red suits my tastes better, and equal skill doesn't matter so much as which tactics are employed. There are ways to beat both, of course. |

While Yellow does not do the same damage as Red, it is far more mobile than Red. With Yellow, a Left-to-Right, or Right-to-Left will score both hits before one Red swing can recover, as far as I can tell. If we're going proper extreme, but staying within the laws of normal human reaction speed and such I'd have to go with yellow. Lets break it down: You can counter in both stances, but a yellow guy can see the red swings coming, as they are slower, and mode predictable. Yellow can do a max of 5 swings, whereas red 3. This means not only does yellow have more possible hit chances, it also has a wider variety of combinations, thus making it less predictable. Red does average 60 damage (normal left and right swings, overheads do 90)whereas normal yellow do 30. If you hit everytime with red, thats a possible 180 damage, next to yellows 150. Yellow is faster, thus making it easier to time swings faster than your opponent can react and also strike at gaps before they close. The DFA has a high consistant damage, but YDFA can possibly cause more, its varied and random. Each move is the perfect counter for the other one. All in all I'm sticking by yellow But a skilled fighter in red and yellow would beat someone who uses one stance exclusivley anyday, due to having more possible options, the best parts of both stances, and the ability to change making them unpredictable. The most important thing, however, is that yellow looks kooler _______________ Apprenctice of Jedi Master Ascari (deceased) Descended from a line of great Jedi Will argue any point of view from any side |

Hmmm.. I think it depends on how much skill we're talking about. If: Low skill level=wildly hacking at each other, then yellow wins by virtue of having more chances to hit and greater chances of blocking Medium skilled=knowing all the specials but having to think carefully about positioning of attacks, then it could go either way Highly skilled=being able to perform complex counters without thinking, then red wins every time by virtue of being that much stronger a stance.
