Any LOTR fanatics here?

I was just wondering if there are enough LOTR fans here, so that we could do a small remake of the Battle at Helms Deep. There are 2 really great maps out there in the web and I think that it would be really great to see how Jedi would have handled this glorious battle. :D

The Ring is made by Sauron, therefore the language is the Black Speech, Elves can't stand it (notice the extended Council of Elrond scene).
The writing is Elvish however, the Black Tongue hasn't got an extensive writing system, so the words are written in tengwar, a very old Elvish script made by Feanor.

"Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul."

That sure as hell doesn't look Elvish to me. :)

Hmmmm .... when Gandalf says the words on the ring (one can see it it the extended version of the movie) it's surly doesn't sound like Elvish. Hmmm ... took a look at the book and yep ... Gandalf say's "... the words are Elvish, old writings but the language is those of Mordor, one I will not speak ...." so it seems I stay corrected ... :D

The language is that of Mordor, but the letters are Elvish.

Way to expensive .... btw .. for what I recall .. the engravings on the one ring is in the language of Mordor not just plain Elvish like they state. Just some guys who try to make money ...

I say, why don't they make two versions:
1 for the cinema audience, the one who loves much action, a love story and doesn't care about errors concerning the books.
2 for the tolkien fans, with more dialogues and better related to the books (this would be a film of at least 5 hours each but so what, make 6 parts then)

Killborne_deluxe i absolutley positively 199% have to disagree with you. Those movies are IMO the best epic fantasy movies ever made. The intelligent language they use, the awesome action scene's, the cast. All this brings your mind into their time and world. I'm currently reading the books rt now and they go way more indepth but we wouldn't expect a movie to do that.

You're absolutely right jacen, the movies are very good, and certainly belong to the best movies ever made, but the books are better, it's the original stuff.

Killborn, we're not talking about the movies, we're talking about the BOOKS. And the books are much better than the movies.

OK LOTR fanatics!

Now Lord of the rings: Listen everybody, wake up. This is by far the most overrated film I have ever spend 2 hours on. People talk about like it's the biggest thing since sliced bread, and it's not. I'm not saying it's crappy but I must have seen at least 100 movies that were better. Like most Adam Sandler movies, for instance.

I have only seen part one of Lord of the rings, and for those of you who haven't seen it, here's a resume: A bunch of strange people with big ears decide to walk across New Zealand and kill all the strange monsters that they meet. After making the decision ("Wanna go across NZ?" "Yeah ok..." "Sweet, i'll get my jewellery";) they go. Two hours later, they have walked what appears to be about 1/3 of the way.

I guess they arrive in part three. Or maybe they arrive in Part two and they go "Wanna go back again?" "Yeah ok...". Maybe they will go back on monocycles while playing trumpets? That would be kinda nice. More juggling would probably also be able to save the trilogy. Or men in womans clothes. Thats always a mark of a good movie.

Anyway, don't count on me to be there to find out...

Ulic, I've finished the Silmarillion, the main part of the book, so I'm at the A-something. You know, that thing right after the last real chapter, the one about Númenor.
