A good piece of software to have. This will scan your computer for any kind of spyware that any freeware or shareware program that you download and install.
http://www.lavasoftusa.com or you can try spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
*NOTE* Don't have both installed or they will say each other is spyware. I like spybot better.

Do you have windows XP or 2000 and a great video card? Seem to be stuck at about 60FPS, even though you say like com_maxfps 120? Simple fix http://www.ryanmh.com/files/reforce.zip is a fix for a Windows Bug that locks your frame rate at 60 fps when you can get higher. All you do is unzip that run it, click auto populate, hit Apply and reboot and boom FPS allover the place :)

Whenever I play a file ending with the extension .mpeg in Windows Media Player I can't adjust the brightness. It has worked. It works for other extensions. I tried "reinstalling", no change. :P

hi Orion. I have a problem running new and modern games like Battlefield Vietnam etc. I have 256 MB RAM, and a 64 MB video card. The min. requirement for for BF: Vietnam is 64 MB vid card and 256 RAM. Should I bump the RAM up to 512 MB, or increase memory in vid card, or both?

Hi, I'm kinda new to programming and was looking for a little help. You see I kinda wanted to create a revolutionary new program, but it's a little beyond my skill level. You see, this program would output the text "Hello World" but it wouldn't accept input or otherwise have conditional modifiers that would alter the run time result. I know this is kinda crazy, but I was considering neglecting graphics or extranous colors. Email me if you can help!! :P:D:P

Ha ha ha! Just kidding. Anyways, check this out for additional laughs. http://www.lri.fr/~filliatr/evolution

BTW, cmad X! Give me the cookie! It's our only hope! Unless I get it the nuclear fisson reactor will overheat and obliterate us all! For the love of God man! Give me the cookie!

You use a crossover cable to connect two similar devices (like 2 computers or 2 switches). Make your own. It's cheaper. :)

Hey orion:

I disassemblied a program with PE Explorer, and I got an .asm file, and edited it ok. Now I suppose I need an assembler to make it a .exe again. Which one do you suggest?

BTW: Maybe you suggest some other disassembler? (which also assemblies?)

Alright, I want to hook up two XP computers to a 'network', per se, via an ethernet cable for a little one vs. one with a friend. No HUB. Would I do this just by the wizard Windows gives on starting a network or is there some trick? I ask because another friend said he was able to do it with just the cable, but he said he had some trouble... So, any advice?

NEVERMIND THIS POST :)

===

k i was just about to start a thread but i figured i should post here...

I use thunderbird (0.5) to read newsgroup posts. Yeah well the newsgroup posts are in thread style but in message style so it's confusing. Here's an example of what i mean thread style and message style:

thread style:

Writing a C++ program
++Re: Writing a C++ program
++++Re: Writing a C++ program
++++++Re: Writing a C++ program
++++Re: Writing a C++ program

Compiling a C program
++Re: Compiling a C program
++Re: Compiling a C program

Message style:

Re: Compiling a C program
Re: Compiling a C program
Re: Writing a C++ program
Re: Writing a C++ program
Re: Writing a C++ program
Compiling a C program
Re: Writing a C++ program
Writing a C++ program

You see that if there are many messages that gets confusing... How can I make them show in a thread way?

BTW: I tried the View | Messages, and View | Threads menu options but it didn't help. Some replies were still away from original post...

Thanks in advance,
- cmad

EDIT From what I see this problem only is on SOME newsgroups (seperate reply threads). Nevermind the post then...

KitMitsu: I got that error too. Apparently it's a copy of rundll32 trying to run a non-functional bridge32.dll. The only fix I know of is to run regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->Microsoft->Windows->Run, and remove the rundll32.exe entry that points to bridge32.dll.

So I'm playing around with my power management settings (Windows XP Pro), setting up my own schemes and all that. It all works fine for several months, but then suddenly one day I turn it on and my settings are gone. All of them. Even the XP default ones. When I bring up the "Power Options" Control Panel box, the drop-down list won't drop down, the Save As and Delete buttons do nothing, and the current scheme's settings (current scheme listed as "Unknown", btw) are all greyed out. The other 3 pages in the box (Advanced, Hibernate, UPS) all work fine. I checked regedit, and all my schemes are still there. The global scheme seems to be set properly to the last one I was using, but I can't change schemes unless I copy and paste throughout the Registry.

Any help would be really appreciated, because I have a ton of stuff on here right now and I really don't feel like formatting and reinstalling again.

it sounds like either a memory issue, swap around those sticks of ram, see if any of them cause the issue, if its not that, its probably a power supply issue. gota get a new psu then :o or maybe some how your motherboard got a small shock and a capasitor on it got fried.

Hey,

I'm thinking of doing striping with a RAID. Since I don't need anything big, I'm just going to try the striping built into WinXP pro.

However, I can't split my drives easily into unallocated space for the striping. The way I got it to work on my secondary drive was to put on Linux (which made a partition) and then delete Linux (leaving unallocated space, but only so much). No luck on splitting the Main Drive, my boot partition. I have plenty of free space all around.

OK, so questions:
One, I wish to be as cheap as possible on this. So something free to split the partition (not Partition Magic, demo won't split, and I won't shell out for it).

Two: Am I better off using a hardware RAID? I think so, but still, I don't want to drop a lot of cash on this. Which leads to....

Three: What hardware RAID should I get if I want to? I've heard lots on Promise, but if I can just get a generic and get it to work, that'd be cheaper/better. But I heard of all the headaches generics cause.

So. Let me know. Post here, and again, if you want to REALLY get ahold of me. Feel free to e-mail me (thanks C-Mad for the e-mail last time.)
