I don't hate my parents, namely because one is dead. The other I don't hate either, though I will say she pisses me off. I moved out, and two months later she moved in. She has no job, I have to support her on an already meager paycheque, and I'm going broke. She doesn't do her share of the chores, except when I don't want her to. I can't build up any of the habits that I didn't have the opportunity to before (I was a spoiled kid; still am, I guess)... And on top of that, despite the fact that -I- am raising her, that I am giving -her- advice for her life, she still takes it upon herself to tell me when to go to sleep, and what I should do in a noticeably maternal way. It's more than just annoyance because it stifles my very existence and growth, intellectually, economically, and whatever else in between, but it's less than hate, because no matter how much I want to, I could never kick her out.  As I believe was mentioned before, unless they're drug addicts or beat you or something along those lines, you should love your parents, because quick as a heartbeat they could be gone. I agree - hate is too strong a word, but that doesn't mean that i never wanted to scream at the top of my lungs because they were so annoying/toe-curlingly-embarassing/patronising/restricting.... To me hate implys I wanna stab something, and I haven't stabbed my parents or wanted to so, yeah... Parents can be a pain in the arse sometimes, but you just gotta deal with it. Hate is such a strong word. Do I dislike them and want to fling my phone against the wall when talking to them? Yeah. But if I hate them, that means no more hanging out at "home". which is a $750,000 house with an indoor wet bar and a pool. I never hated my parents but that is mostly cuz they adopted me and that is something I will always be thankfull for. Even though they are not my real parents I really really love them and there is no way ever that I could hate them. |
