I hope you do not take my comments as saying you don't have the right to complain about laming or other problems in the Academy. You have every right to say what is going on in the servers. I have just never agreed with pointing fingers at the person in public. I don't think you will get any results that way and you probably won't make the guy change his ways if you've already talked to him about it. The Academy usually doesn't need to know who all the bad eggs are, just that there are some. The JAK/T/C's however do, but they can be told that. So go ahead and say what's going on that's bad, but you don't need to say who. Some of these people are doing it to get a rise out of you. So if they don't succeed on the servers why should you let them succeed on the forums? The only time I really think it is appropriate to say something bad about the person is after they have banned and there are all these people going "why was he banned he was such a cool guy/girl." And the answer is usually quite obvious, the person was cool to you but an asshole to everyone else. So if you want discipline to be carried out, be prepared because it might not always go in your favor or your friend's favor. *edit* What cuzza has done I think is the appropriate way of doing things. A few things. Lamers are present and we know this. Don't go running to a ranked person till after you've made an effort to stop whats going on by talking to the lame-O first and if ya feel the need, take a screenie/demo/comdump/ or whatever. BUT! ALSO! The ranked people DO have a job to do. They have taken on the role that, at times, won't be fun or it may take away time from other things they like to do on the servers. Their job IS to regulate the servers and stop the laming and such. However we (JAS) do realize it does get overbearing and rediculious at times. Thanks to JAK/JAT for being great, you work does get noticed and it is appreciated.  So to conclude, JAS: take the necessary prerequisites before ya go running to ranked personnel because chances are it can get fizzled out real quick just by a nice attitude and a simple "please stop". What I was saying Monty Boy.. Is that the people who are laming, either don't know the rules, or don't listen. And some are taking advantage of us not having admin. takea screenshot or a demo, u can even condump if the person is using foul language send it to any JAK/T/C and we will do the rest, but dont fight back or they will lame more and more, and dont lame in order to get someone to lame so u can report them cos they might report u too  _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are

People are taking advantage of the Academy, and I believe it is due to no mod. When there is a mod, things will change.. And remember, do not retaliate any laming. That means, do not lame back. Just keep your cool, and talk with the person who is laming. If the lamer continues, take a screenshot/demo/condump. people who have been here should be able to deal with it........fair enough im a JAT but i am keeping off the JK3 server because i know i wont be able to have fun without sorting out alot of people problems, problems that they can sort out with a simple, look dude dont lame or u will be kicked from the JA if a JAT finds out...... something simlilar to that, and i agree with buzz, dont turn the forum into a I GOT LAMED, we know lamers are on there, but we cant do a lot at the moment, so bare with us and try using ur head instead of asking us to use ours _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are

You're right Devo we do. I've been with this Academy for a while now and I know what it was like when we had control of the "bad" students on the JK2 servers. Times really haven't changed and you'll find most of our students are great! Truly I love our social structure here. However it is difficult to deal with lamers when you're not used to them. I however am quite used to them as I have just left a clan that I was apart of the council. I spent more time there baby sitting the servers to make sure everyone would have a great gaming experience. I'd say on average I had to punish 1 out of 5 players that would come on for lamming. Here it's probably 1 out of 100. Our students need the right to talk about bad things that happen to them and I seriously wonder about people who pitch a fit when one does complain. It seems that some don't mind when we talk about lamming on a public server but when it comes to our servers a few people feel that we don't have a right. Patience is a virtue and I highly recommend that everyone adopt patience in all aspects of there lives. That goes for those who don't like to hear people complain about lamers. Also go easy on the Knights and Trainers and Council members because until we have the mod there is little they can do on the spot. We're doing a great job if you really think about it. You may not see what's going on behind closed doors here but I assure you that our JAK, JAT, JAC members are trying there very best to insure a great gaming experience for all of us. _______________ "Look not back in anger, nor forward in fear But around you in awareness." Those that think things are out of control should seek to gain perspective. I am new to the academy and joined the ja3 home server for the first time last night. I couldn't believe what a departure from the other servers JA are. People were polite, helpful, talkative and fun. I wasn't attacked when taking or sheathed, no spammed stock moves, chatter was constructive, and single sabers were the majority. It blew me away what an amazing social construct evolved here and the polarity against anything I've experienced. I don't have a history here yet, but I do have a young JA perspective I can remind people of. You guys have something pretty damn amazing here. _______________ No matter where you go, there you are. |

The amount of lamming by new comers is getting a little out of hand. I've found them to be pretending not to know that they're breaking the rules and often times they're blatantly acknowledging that there is nothing that can be done about their lamming. Just recently I returned a condump proving just that type of behavior. I'm interested to see if that person will still lame and openly acknowledge the fact that nothing truly can be done on the spot about their behavior. I would be very curious to know if these "lamers" have been students here in the past. IP's can be had and changed. I just find it funny that so many people would have the very same mentality. I also realize that some games like UT (Unreal Tournament) have little to no lamming because of the nature of those types of games. It is likely that some people who have played those types of games don't realize that JK games have a different approach to acceptable conduct. Non the less I am one of the "Unreal" gamers and I know how to behave myself. It is not a matter of innocence but more of stupidity or meanness. I believe this Forum is the Academy Forum intended for Academy discussion. I think this is the perfect place to vent and let people know that you're watching and you don't intend to let them get by with their bad behavior. There's nothing wrong with venting a little here. I don't however think it is appropriate to post names of people here. But try not to turn the forums into a "I've been LAMED!!! and it was So-and-So." The first thing you should always do is talk to the person, see if they even know they are breaking a rule. So many times the person doesn't even know that what they are doing will get them in trouble. Then you should take the steps to discipline then if they continue to do so. But be sure you have some proof and give the approximate time it happened. That's always a big thing because otherwise we'd just have people that don't get along with eachother accusing eachother of always breaking the rules just to get them kicked out. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. Just take Screenshots of who Lames, and then send it to the leaders meh thinks. Cuz then the leaders can deal with those people. BTW the first d00d I would like to apply for a ban: TAO/TOA (both could be ok) Messiah. Hes abusive and snipes people when they just stand and wait for a duel.
